I cannot see Sky getting anyone from Astana given that 1 they are huge rivals and 2 some of the people that are associated with them (Astana)

Yes Sky now want to tap into the French market I believe but would Pinot be attainable? - I'm not sure if I was a French rider I would want to join a non-french team, certainly not Sky.

Why Sky didn't sign up both of the Yates twins last years is beyond me, I think it was a huge mistake.

my god you don't know anything do you? the yates brothers themselves didn't want to go to sky and your thing about no astana riders to sky because of certaisn associations is the most ridiculous thing I read all day.

They tried, but the the Yates brothers didnt want to become work donkeys (they actually said something of that sort). Wise decision in my opinion.

No need for opinions. Their season proves it was certainly the right choice. Plenty of years to ride for Sky in the future.

Hopefully they will stay clear of SKY and stick with Orica or another team where they can ride their own chances. Maybe SKY will be an option when Froome has retired.

I think it's almost nailed on they will be back at Sky in 2016. Sky will promise them anything they want. They've always said they enjoy working with the GB staff and know most around the Sky set up anyway.

Will they offer them a free role in the Tour?

By 2016/2017 why not? Froome won't be around forever. Plus if Froome is strong and wins the Vuelta then maybe by 2016 he might want to win the Giro to complete the set.

I reckopn Froome will still be a dominating figure (i.e. be among the biggest favorites) in the Tour at least till 2018. He only just turned 29 and many cyclists peak in the early 30s, so I will expect him to be one of the biggest Tour contenders the next 4-5 years.

Yes that's true, I suppose nobody really knows how long he will be strong for. If he still wants to ride the Tour in 2016 that still leaves the twins freedom for the Giro/Vuelta in that year.

True, but I dont get why they would wanna go to SKY when they got total freedom at Orica, and to be honest they seem happy there.

Do you know anything Ryo?

Not really if I was management and was looking for new riders the last place I'd go to is Astana. Armstrong, Contador, Bruyneel, Vinokourov, Scarponi, Martinelli, Pellizottii. Its not a Billy Joel song, its a list of Astana riders/staff who have been linked to doping. - I'd imagine they do things a bit different over there.

Well, I dont think that holds SKY back. Rumours are that SKY has been trying to get Nibali for a few years now.

Pat Lefevere has been saying recently that he needs to add more GT riders in his team.
I think they might go aggressively after Konig. Him being Czech is an added adv.

wrt Dombro, i just hope he goes even to Giant. he would have a better chance than staying back in Sky. My heart wants him to go to BMC though. will be grat for TJVG. i think OGE wud be a good option as well.

if Can-GRS teams merge, then who wud go for the WT license? if netapp is applying, then i dont think Konig will leave the squad.

Yes they got the freedom at Orica and it's a great decision for everyone. I have no doubt Sky will be back in for them for 2016 and I'd be surprised if they did not move having worked with many of the British staff before. Sky will also give them the freedom they are after by 2016 too.

Realistically neither of the Yates twins will be realistic GT contenders by 2016 .... maybe 2018 is more likely which would be another contract period away. Whilst Porte may've "showed his cards" and been found wanting as a GT contender/team leader at this current Tour, one suspects either or both Yates would be thrown into subordinate roles at Sky and, at this stage of their careers, they'd still be "smaller dogs" in the team's internal hierarchy.

Who knows; we really won't have a clearer picture of where their true forte may lie for some years to come. One of both may be more suited to the Ardennes Classics or the one week races.

But it would still be nice for them to be able to go stage hunting in the Tour. They can do that at Orica, not so much on SKY
