British Continental team JLT Condor have announced their 2016 roster: http://www.velouk.net/2015/10/12/team-news-jlt-condor-2016/

New Signings:

Conor Dunne (An Post)

I'm a bit surprised by that one. He's been a regular and strong presence in breakaways all season, so I can't see why An Post would want rid of him. And I can't see why he'd prefer JLT Condor to An Post - the latter team rides a better calendar and has a very good record as a shop window.

Then again, Conti budgets are low and pay is terrible, so maybe it's as simple as JLT Condor offering him a few more quid. A good signing for them anyway. Having lost quite a few of their Irish riders over the last couple of years, I suspect that An Post will be signing a few Irish kids.

Maybe he's changing (back?) to his country of birth?

I very much doubt it. What would be the benefit to him? And why would JLT Condor care?

Being a 6ft 9 cyclist might be more a profitable novelty in a country of 65 million rather than 4. I agree it's highly unlikely but his move really doesn't make much sense in terms of racing programme etc.

It's more likely to be something as simple as (a) a bit of a pay raise or (b) falling out with team management or (c) wanting to live in Britain rather than Belgium or (d) feeling a change of scene would help his riding. I don't think that any British team gives a monkeys whether a rider is British or Irish registered and An Post usually have almost as many British riders as Irish ones.

That looks like a pretty good roster!

In other news, Alex Kirsch extends with Cult Energy - Stölting. He is an exciting prospect and an agressive rider who had a good first season on the ProContinental circuit, I am looking forward to seeing what he can do next season.

Hope they at least will sign one more eritrean rider. Otherwise I am afraid this will end up like the old HTC team with all the sprinter/rouleur types and what not. Oh well, now that Kittel has left Giant, there is a team to cheer for instead.

What's it with them being - self-proclaimed - Africa's team, while they haven't signed a single African as of today? In fact, they let their biggest African talent leave for Lampre of all teams..

70% of the team's riders used to be African, now it's not even half of them. I really do not like where this is going.

New sponsor changes the focus a little bit, that's not uncommon with cycling teams and anyway they will have 12 from 25 who are African which is a good percentage. Signing a rider like Cavendish changed the way the team has recruited as he request certain riders be brought in, this is the cycling world we live in as most of the bigger teams are far more globalised than they were 20 years ago. Also the didn't just let Meintjes leave, he had an offer on the table but went in another direction which is his prerogative
