Armée de Terre announcing 5 signings, some of them ex-pro Elites (Poulhiès, Rostollan and Yssaad):
Thibault Férasse (1994, Team U Nantes-Atlantique)
Clément Penven (1989, Marseille 13-KTM)
Stéphane Poulhiès (1985, Occitane Cyclisme Formation)
Thomas Rostollan (1986, AVC Aix-en-Provence)
Yannis Yssaad (1993, Sojasun Espoir-ACNC)

Does this mean they're actually in the army or is the team no longer tied to military service?

No I don't think they are. I think, before 2015, when the team was dominating the DN1 (French first division amateurs), they were all or most of them in the army. But since they jumped to Continental status, I don't think that applies anymore.

Interesting re Jesse Sargent, perhaps only got offered one year deals and went for team with longer two year contract.Only other options might be PCT teams or low money WT contract.

Opportunities could come into it as well. He's maybe more likely to get chances to race for himself, or to ride the bigger races more with AG2R than with the likes of Tinkoff who were reportedly sniffing around.

Yep that's exact. Just like VC La Pomme Marseille before 2011.

I guess maybe because of his age he did not go to a WT.

I rarely see Southeast. Not sure what big races they will do next year.

Southeast has a pretty good program, look at the results of Finetto for example, if they get to do the same races, they can make a very nice schedule for Martinez but I hope they leave him out of the Giro squad (to young imo)

...General Manager Angelo Citracca who said “It’s a youngster with a great future, a climber that can be protagonist at Giro d’Italia despite his young age”.

He'll probably go to the Giro. Should go for the experience and try to win a stage, IMO.

And they have a guaranteed invite to the Giro, since they won the Coppa Italia this year.

Lol, that's a very appropriate team for an amazing rider that only has some top 10s in some american races that nobody cares.

Message from Fabio Silvestre:

"Tomorrow I will return to Portugal without having certainties for my future. It's difficult to be in this position, especially when one knows that one did everything possible. I hold my head up high and hope that everything will resolve itself for my benefit."

He's only 24, and doesn't just have ''some top 10s''.

Tranfers and Rumours 2016-2017.

Thomas to leave Sky after 2016? He wants to lead the Tour De France it seems. And if the young Yates brothers arrives in 2017, he could be forced to leave. But at which team other than Sky would he fit in?

http://www.cyclingquotes.com/news/thomas_ill_leave_team_sky_if_i_have_too/

“My deal with Sky expires next year but at the moment I don’t want to leave for another team because Sky is the best place to learn - and be in the best position to get a result. If I have to leave then, then I would.”

Cannondale? Trek? Orica trading the Yates brothers for him?

It will be interesting to see what Thomas does in 2017 - He will certainly be in demand if he continues his progression - Don't think there is any relationship between the Yates boy and Thomas - Yates boys will be better served signing a contract extension for 2017 and 2018 with OGE - I suspect at this stage we will know what type of riders the Yates boys will be - In saying that its inevitable that one of the Yates boys will leave in the future if they progress as expected.

Thomas has done this several times before. He makes an empty threat of leaving, leverages it for a pay rise and stays like he always intended. This is just his latest excuse.

The headline doesn't really reflect the overall interview, but even in that quote he says "I don't want to leave". He's not exactly agitating!

Speaking of older riders, any news about Leukemans? I'd say he is better than more versatile than Nocentini. And he wants to ride one or two years more as well.

Any team looking for experience and strength in the classics should sign him. Would fit in every team without enough riders for the cobbles and/or hills.

If anything he seems to be a bit overly hopeful of being a protected second GC man at Sky in the Tour, when that's surely not going to happen. They wouldn't give Froome or Wiggins that opportunity, they won't give it to him either. They're an all in behind the one leader sort of team. Saying that he'd have to go elsewhere to be the number 1 as long as Froome is around is just a statement of the obvious rather than a threat.

Speaking of the Kittel transfer, cyclingtips has a new 'secret pro' article that claims Kittel's problem isn't illness, but just not caring anymore.

Ivan Quaranta v2.0?
