Thomas to leave Sky after 2016? He wants to lead the Tour De France it seems. And if the young Yates brothers arrives in 2017, he could be forced to leave. But at which team other than Sky would he fit in?

It will be interesting to see what Thomas does in 2017 - He will certainly be in demand if he continues his progression - Don't think there is any relationship between the Yates boy and Thomas - Yates boys will be better served signing a contract extension for 2017 and 2018 with OGE - I suspect at this stage we will know what type of riders the Yates boys will be - In saying that its inevitable that one of the Yates boys will leave in the future if they progress as expected.

Thomas has done this several times before. He makes an empty threat of leaving, leverages it for a pay rise and stays like he always intended. This is just his latest excuse.

Speaking of older riders, any news about Leukemans? I'd say he is better than more versatile than Nocentini. And he wants to ride one or two years more as well.
Any team looking for experience and strength in the classics should sign him. Would fit in every team without enough riders for the cobbles and/or hills.

If anything he seems to be a bit overly hopeful of being a protected second GC man at Sky in the Tour, when that's surely not going to happen. They wouldn't give Froome or Wiggins that opportunity, they won't give it to him either. They're an all in behind the one leader sort of team. Saying that he'd have to go elsewhere to be the number 1 as long as Froome is around is just a statement of the obvious rather than a threat.
