Awesome and Thanks,

Huge boost to the Classics squad imo. With Stuyven, and the Van Poppels, TFR will have a much stronger squad in the spring. Thoughts?

Nah they're still a horrible team.

Van Poppels are not really part of the classics squad, Danny rode Paris-Roubaix this year but only to fill in for Cancellara who was out with injury. Granted, he did do pretty well. But he has yet to confirm that he can be more than the guy who wins one stage and one prologue per year. Stuyven has also had a bad season so far. Trek is a relatively new team but so far I am disappointed with their development of young talents (Stuyven, Silvestre, Van Poppel)

Stuyven has had a bad season? Yes he has not had any WINS, but has had a lot of very good finishes and shows a lot of promise. Plus he was injured early on and was lucky to come back for any of the classics. Both Van Poppels have had good showings at PR. Trek went so far as to say #future after Danny's good showing. Plus Danny is only 21, he is a boy in a mans game at this stage. His willingess to fight for top spots while working with next to nothing says a lot about what could be. Silvestre, I cannot comment a whole lot about as I don't know much about him. Figured he was more or less a worker bee in the making.

I do agree that TFRs results this year have been poor. IMO, the DS's (minus Demol) have been poor and the GM Luca G has a lot to answer for. He has done a poor job of overseeing the whole program. Minus a handful of guys, the team is weak at best.

Christopher Juul Jensen will leave Saxo, confirmed by him and Oleg (on twitter yday), he has no new team yet, but he thinks he should be able to get a new contract elsewhere.

A big loss for Saxo I think. I guess this must be the fallout from Riis leaving.

yeah a really big loss.... there are like 15 riders better than him in every wt team

Uhm... did you see him in the Giro?
Nobody is claiming that he's the top-rider, but he's still an important rider with all the work he does, and maybe also off the bike with his joking around.

From the Nat. champs. thread (was going to post there at first but then I realised it fit better here):

A good signing by Sky, but they must have offered him quite a lot of money because that's one team where he won't get any chances to ride for himself ever. He's an all rounder of a sort who rarely gets many chances anyway, but whatever ones a rider of his ability might get anywhere else will go to the likes of Thomas at Sky.

I don't think he would mind getting a (mostly) work-role. It seems to be a role that suits him rather well, besides; he stated during the Giro that his biggest role-model in the peloton is Lars Bak.

I wouldn't count Oleg's twitter as a reliable source, could be joking with the rumours. AFAIK Juul-Jensen didn't say he would leave the team, only that he knows what to do next year. Congrats from Contador probably mean that Tinkoff-Saxo really appreciates him.

I thought what he said is that he doesn't know what he'll do next year. But cool if he actually knows.
Gotta admit that at first I read Oleg's tweet as being basically "Congrats with the win. Too bad you won't get a contract next year!" but of course it's possible that Chris already told Oleg that he won't be on the team next year.
As for Contador congratulating him; just because he'll leave doesn't mean the team can't appreciate the work he's doing now.

That's true. But if he is appreciated, why leave one of the best paying teams? Maybe he likes the Anglosaxon life style better, being raised in Ireland? I doubt he gets more freedom at other teams. In the longer term, maybe he will get a free/leaders role. I don't know, it just seems a perfect fit between Tinkoff-Saxo and Juul-Jensen.

Just to try something new, a change of air.

I wonder if guys like Gaetan Bille, Steven Tronet, and Carlos Barbero are going to new teams? Surely they've shown to be in very good form this season.

Odd Christian Eiking has apparently gotten an offer to sign with FDJ from next year. Nothing is signed yet though but it seems like a done deal.

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/news-shorts-nibalis-tour-de-france-numbers-kittel-struggling-to-handle-non-selection
"On Saturday, Kittel, his manager Jörg Werner and team manager Iwan Spekenbrink held a four-hour discussion. While no results were announced, the statements afterwards were far from positive. There was no agreement amongst the parties, Werner said. There is no thought of an early contract termination “right now”, he said, “We don’t want to go that far at this time” -- giving the impression that it remains a possibility."
Who would sign him - either now or later? I don't see a lot of teams able to pay his salary and already equipped for a sprint train, yet currently without a top sprinter

A big ticket signing for Bjarne Riis' BMC-IAM project?

Sky have the ingredients for one and Viviani's deal is only for a year but that's very unlikely at best. Maybe Trek?

So Porte has signed fro BMC for 2 million euros

Interesting, with Wiggins now gone and Porte maybe too that frees up a lot of cash, I expect a couple of big signings for Sky.
