Ex-Sky staigiere in 2012 and 2014 and son of Astana's Giuseppe, Davide Martinelli signs 2 year contract with Etixx

http://www.etixx-quickstep.com/en/news/show/etixx-quick-step-reaches-deal-with-davide-martinelli/2343

What??? He hasn't had a very good year and hasn't really shown signs og improvement since 2013 or so. Weird

He's not having a bad year. He won 3 race in Italy including the NCU23 ITT ( for the third time ) , he was 8th in GP Etruschi, 6th in PR U23. I don't know if he improved since 2013 but he had good results everywhere including 7 top tens in Tour de l'Avenir stages + a green jersey win ...

He's a decent puncher and classic rider , can TT well and he's is fast . He surely deserve a chance in the WT ;)

He hasn't had a bad year no but he is older than almost anyone in u23 ranks. Still, he doesn't look like one of the best riders and he is often beaten by riders 1, 2 or even 3 years younger than himself.

I could understand if a pro conti team like Bardiani picked him up, but Etixx giving him a deal is very surprising IMO.

Maybe Bernaudeau's big name is Uran? He is out of contract and looking for a team with no GC leader after all.

Why do they need Blythe though? He's not exactly bad, but he seems like PCT level. Are they gonna try and give Sagan a sprint train (or force him to accept one)?

Well he's helped Ewan this year, and Ewan has 12 wins so he can't be bad at that.

Yes I am sure Sagan will also compete in Tour of Korea and Langkawi  :D

Blythe is a very respected helper. Gilbert was always very fond of him always asking that Blythe would ride the big races at Lotto even in his first year. He's very good at positioning and all that stuff.

He's also a bit of a rapscallion, hence despite being a good track rider and, as you say, desired team member for a rider as big as Gilbert, he was kicked out of the British academy programme and Sky have never wanted him.

As the Intxausti + Izagirre brothers rumors apparently weren't true, I suggest that whole report eventually is fruitless and Landa hasn't signed with Sky so far.

Just for the record.

Yup. Looks like a rider agent trying to drum up interest to me.

Eisel said that at least half of the rumours about riders moving to Sky are false.

When Sagan was all of 21, most of his wins came from 2.HC races too

Tinkov Saxo signings & contract renewals

Does not appear that Saxo will sign any big riders for next year. I am surprised that Saxo is not signing any new big climbers. AC will need stronger climbers if hopes to have much chance chance of winning the TDF next year....! This could be a indication that Oleg Tinkov intends to stop sponsoring the team after Alberto retires.

Apparently, it's Eisel going to new Bernaudeau sponsor.

Sagan's 2010 (20 years): 3 WT victories, 2 HC victories
Sagan's 2011 (21 years): 8 WT victories (3 in the Vuelta), 1 HC victories, 5 .1 victories

And his oposition was a bit better than Von Hoff, Farrar, Witmitz, Reguigui, Duque, Mareczko, Sutton, Bevin, Wippert, Sulzberger, and Peron.

I hope this is true.Sky finally giving up at the road captain will be a good move.
On another note Clarke is still available.I'm surprised that Sky doesn't show any interest in him.I think he'll be a good signing. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/cla...a-greenedge-but-still-on-the-market-for-2016/

Well if Clarke is leaving Orica because he's not as favoured as Albasini, Gerrans, Impey, etc, I can't see the point of him going to Sky.

Which surely indicates the big Europcar signing is Cavendish... Eisel is a familiar name to fans, but your last win being 2010 Gent–Wevelgem is hardly synonymous with a "big name".
