Pieter Weening (NED), GreenEdge (2015) → Team Roompot (2016)
http://t.co/Uj8afo5ODr

This seems like a step backwards for a team trying to target stage races. But he is 34 and the team know the data I guess.

How so? He usually picks up a few nice results each year and would be a good mentor for younger riders. Decent signing for Roompot IMO

I'm saying because he is a good mentor etc, it's a step backwards for Orica at a time when they want to bring the Yates' up to GT standard.

Sorry, I thought you meant backward for Roompot :p

Wait and see, White and Stephens have been talking about a marquee signing. They need to replace Clarke, Weening, Santamorita and Blythe so there's a bit of wiggle room, even with Txurruka, Haig and Power coming on board next year.

But you're right, Orica needs a senior climber. Yates, Yates, Chaves, Power and Haig are serious climbing talents and Txurruka is an unknown quantity on the road. They need someone to band around.

Jens Mouris will also leave Orica, so that's one more open spot for them.

Mouris btw has apparently already found a new team, as his management tweeted, but it is not yet disclosed which team it will be. Roompot has already said it won't be them. Kinda curious where he'll go then, don't think he has much too add to a WT-team to be honest. Maybe Drapac?

Ye think it will be Drapac, Mouris is with SEG if im not mistaken and they got contacts at Drapac, Cannondale is also a possibility but don't think they would sign them.

Meyer

In

Haig
Edmondson

Could the marquee signing be a Gilbert or Boonen ?
Jensen

Bonifazio rumoured to Trek and Boucher to leave FDJ.

Boucher to retire? He's not doing bad this season. I can see him joining IAM

And he responds by getting into the break today....

And from his tweet, he didn't seem very happy about it. (check also the replies to his tweet)
Maybe Madiot's decision was based on Boucher's poor spelling in French :p

"David Boucher has apparently been told he must leave the Eneco Tour by his FDJ squad because he defied team orders and attacked during stage 3."

I didn't know about Howard and Meyer leaving but I understand why, they've been under raced this year - especially Meyer. Any word on where they're going? Cam to Drapac might be likely but I still think that he's WT level. Howard not so much.

Howard is unlikely to find a new home at WT level and it's probably either Drapac or Conti level. Like Goss, he tends to crack the mopes when it's not going his way & is rarely an effective lead-out man as he's off the back more often than not.

Meyer, on the other hand, could find himself another WT ride or at minimum good Pro Conti. He has a big engine & has demonstrated a capacity & willingness to do the hard grunt work on the front. Also a major asset for TTT (part of at least 2 of 3 GT per year) & not out of the question to snag a breakaway win.

I wouldn't be surprised if Howard goes back to the track and races for Budget Forklifts next year. If so, they could become a real force in Asia and the USA.

Speaking of Von Hoff, when does his contract expire?
I wouldn't mind seeing him racing for GreenEdge, along with Ewan and Matthews, GreenEdge would have a nice trio of sprinters who can win races. Assuming Von Hoff can improve with GreenEdge, but he has the potential if he's given a chance.

He explains it in details here : http://www.cyclismactu.net/news-eneco-tour-david-boucher-la-fdj-a-decide-de-me-punir-52063.html

He told his DS about his intention to get in the breakaway, now that he's out of contract and needs to be more visible in races and his DS replied that then it would be his last race with the team. When he got in his breakaway, he was informed through the radio that he would be going home the same night.

He's not the smartest guy, is he? not only did he know it would be his last race for the team, but he also showed potential employers that he's unloyal.

Possibly expires this year, but I'm sure I've seen things about NFTO wanting to have him as a strong focus of their team as they move up to pro conti.
