If anyone cares, a large number of ONE Pro Cycling riders extended, but George Atkins, Marc Hester, Jonathan Mould and Dexter Gardias did not.

I think his intention was always to stay with Axeon next year. Get a taste of the WT at the end of this year, then bring it back to the u23s.

Coquard is staying with Bernaudeau.
He would've been the one I expected a move mostly to be honest. Big respect to him, that he waited and ultimately stayed. Probably the team will be build especially around him. But still.

Which therefore means some of the strong riders (Atkins and Mould) of the british races will keep showing their fireworks on the british scene.

ONE have also signed Kristian House and ex Caja Rural rider Karol Domagalski. Not sure this is enough to make the jump to the second division yet...

And Mouldy is gutted about it. Seems an odd call by One Pro, he hasn't had a bad year at all. No doubt he can get a ride with one of the bigger domestic outfits but it's a disappointment not be going pro conti with them. I'm pleased they've renewed Yanto Barker though.

Doesn't look like it. Maybe they have faith in what they have, but not much evidence to support that imo. Would make sense to add some more experience at a higher level. Perhaps they have to wait for bigger fish to finish feeding and see what's left?

Makes sense. There are always good riders available cheap who are running out of options if a lower budget team waits. An Post picked up Kruopis and Edmondson this year like that. At ProConti level, UHC often seem to pick up a rider or two who should be out of their budget. They may also be able to raid their domestic rivals, particularly if NFTO don't have the budget to go ProConti (speaking of which, has anyone heard what's happening there?).

But yes, what they have at the moment plus Kristian House isn't really going to cut it in the second division.

If ONE have the budget, some riders on the market: Cummings, Ciolek, Cesare Benedetti, ten Dam, Boucher, Cam Meyer, and Leigh Howard. Obviously the kind of race programme they go for would rule some of those out, but you could definitely get something going.

Don't know their views on the MPCC, but Ballan and Tiernan-Locke are also free for next season.

Saw an article linked at twitter suggesting that Andrej Kasjetskin would be interested in taking over Europcar and rename it Baikonour. The credibilty seems somewhat quistonable so to say...

I doubt it, but it's not impossible. Kash still considers himself a rider (belive it or not, he still wants to ride in Rio 2016 as a leader..)

But he has expressed interest in taking over a team, he lacks a couple of sponsors though, so to sum it up, he wants to lead a team and still race, but it have to be either Astana or another Kazakh pro team.

EDIT: Wait what, you might be right, both Caspian Services and AKME seems to want to buy the team with Kashechikin, and he has expressed interest in it, to take over the thing, they are in talks... This has a good chance of happening, might be why he has been helping out with deals for buisnesses in Kazakhstan in the past to years to get sponsoring, all the puzzle pices are falling in place for me now.. I think this is credible.

According to basque television, ETB, three more riders have signed extensions with Movistar.

Imanol Erviti for one year, and surprisingly, BOTH Izagirre brothers for two more years.

We'll see, I'd still like a few new faces at Movistar, but glad to see Ion stays.

Did some more digging and one source mentions it's confirmed, Kashechkin confirmed in a interview that he is going to race for Europcar next season or as it's renamed Baikonour and also taking over the team... WTF, this came out of the blue....

Source: http://www.zakon.kz/4739738-v-kazakhstane-pojavitsja-novaja.html

This was the source i got it from, http://m.sports.ru/others/cycle-racing/1032732356.html

Confirmed seems like a strong word, "credible sources" according to Google-Translate so its not official at least. I remain sceptical - it doesn't rhyme with the talks of a french sponsor.

What i meant to say was, confirmed by one source, and you are right, Zakon is not the most credible source. If Kashechkin updated his webpage with new info, it would be a much stronger. My english is not top notch, so my point of view might get lost sometimes. :)

Still seems interesting, i knew Kash was looking to create a team, and get back racing. But i never thought we would even get to the stage where rumors talked about it materializing...

What talented riders are not getting results in Lampre?

Rui Costa
Sacha Modolo
Przemyslaw Niemiec

All have had a subpar year through various reasons.

lol not sure you know but Modolo won 2 Giro stages.

What's your point? He's their main sprinter. They would have expected 10+ wins from him this year or at least match last year's with 9. He has 3.

quality over quantity

This is great news, al the key riders have prolonged their contracts ( except Intxausti). I think Unzue will resign 1/2 other riders, Rojas for sure and maybe Moreno/D.Quintana. And a couple of new faces with Kudus, Betancur and maybe Valls that's it.

I dont know the background but that tension between Izaguirres and Movistar staff due to late signing won't be good imo. They are great domestiques (Ion even more) but Im not sure it will work.

First off, Izaguirre is kinda past the domestique-role. He has actually led quite a big amount of races this year, or at least had a very protected role. He probably even is the team's 3rd best rider, so thats a huge signing.

Second, he was rumoured to Sky, but according to that report still signed with Movistar. That doesnt really suggest tension to me, rather a guy who was unsure where to go like many others at this point of their career. Movistar has given him leadership in all races he wanted to (apart from Pais Vasco where he managed to podium anyways) and he cant get than on Sky. Maybe you know something I dont, but there probably is a reason why he reportedly chose to stay.

On Malori, Amador and the Herradas: All great signings. Malori is steadily improving and will be a key member for TTT's and the Tour squad. Good for 5 victories a year in big races. Amador isnt anywhere near Giro-form, I think that was kinda a one-time thingy for him, but at his best he is a super domestique. He should maybe try to focus a little on 1 week races as well. You need Jose for climbing depth and experience in the GT's, while I hope Jesus will evolve into a good Ardennes-rider. I think he has the tools for that.

Gorka is in the same mold as Herrada, experienced, a good climber and a good domestique. Erviti is just a class act and seems to have a super bond to Quintana, so thats understandably as well. They should renew Rojas and obviously D. Quintana since 1) he has shown promises of being a a good climber AND is actually somewhat more than that, fx. Eneco 2014 and 2) Quintana lil brother. Give him 2 years more and skip Javi Moreno.

Imanol Erviti is the next in the line of guys like Txente García and Pablo Lastras, whose careers live and die at Abarcá. José Iván Gutiérrez was close to that but had some career before joining, while Erviti's been there for 11 years which gives him the chance in the future to be that kind of guy - Lastras has been there long enough that the people he's been domestiquing for includes Chava Jiménez and Alex Zülle. Erviti's only been around long enough to domestique for Mancebo and the Osa brothers so far, but then a few years ago when Txente was around and had been domestiquing for Indurain and Olano, Lastras' record didn't seem as impressive.

It'll be interesting to see who comes after Erviti. Amador perhaps?

Oh, and Rojas isn't really necessary anymore. Much rather keep Javi Moreno. The rise of Juanjo Lobato makes Rojas surplus to requirements really. Paco Ventoso is now past his best and Sanz is only on the team because he's Unzué's nephew, and I'd rather them cut them before Rojas (even though at his peak Ventoso was better than Rojas anyway) but Lobato can make it to the finish on any stage the wingnut can, is faster and - here's the kicker - can actually goddamn win a race. Rojas has won about ten races - most of them in the Challenge Mallorca or in races with no sprinters like País Vasco - in ten years, Lobato has more than that in the last five. Sure, there's not a great difference in the calibre of wins (Spanish one-day races, early season warmup races, the main WT one is the TDU so a stronger sprint field but fewer on form), but it does include wins when he's riding for Andalucía and freaking Euskaltel-Euskadi in 2013 with zero support whatsoever, and also a puncheur finish at the Castillo de Burgos.
