Breschel has stated that he has not extended his contract with Tinkoff-Saxo but will continue on the WT. I have read that Katusha is interested in bringing him in as a luxury helper for Kristoff. Would he be interested? I think it is a bit of a waste cause he is better at riding for himself than working for a leader. I could see him fit perfectly at Orica, could he follow Juul there?

If it means anything, Morkov is going to Katusha for the same reason.

Yes, that is probably the most likely outcome. Would love to see him on Orica though

Anyone heard anything on Daniel Moreno yet? Having a good Vuelta and clearly still capable of getting results.

Just out of curiosity, were do you get that from?
The way I understood it Breschel already has a contract with a WT team, he just doesn't feel like revealing which one yet.

Lampre is a good bet. One of the few WT where he could lead the team in a GT. And be co-captain with Rui Costa in the classics. But Moreno is better and more punchy, so I'm not sure Rui like him stealing his Ardennes spot.

Having co-leaders for the Ardennes doesn't work very well at Lampre. Last year when Cunego, Ulissi and Costa were all riding for themselves springs to mind. The disaster had it's zenith when Cunego, doing some crazy maneuvers to get himself in good position, brought Costa to the ground and out of Flèche.

Not that the alternative works either. In Lampre nobody but a couple of riders works for their leaders.

edit: I could see Ulissi leading Amstel, Moreno Flèche and Costa Liège, but that'd be quite the mess. Plus Ulissi and Costa work for nobody.

Well... according to both feltet.dk

http://www.feltet.dk/nyheder/breschel_har_fundet_nyt_hold/

And BT-sporten

http://www.bt.dk/cykling/breschel-er-faerdig-hos-tinkoff-saxo

He has not yet revealed his new team to anyone.
Except his new team, of course. I guess they'd know.

Smartstop to disband at the end of the year. Owner Jamie Bennett still looking for a sponsor for next year, but Mike Creed says the team as we know it is no more, and that riders are free to search for a new contract as they wouldn't be able to retain them anyway, financially speaking.

Quite a bummer, some great riders there in Rob Britton, Travis McCabe, Jure Kocjan and the vet Eric Marcotte, who says he's likely to progressively abandon the scene, just to name a few.

PS: Good on Oram too, maybe he will get better screening in Europe. Been with Axel Merckx's teams since he was 18, optimistically we will see a kiwi up there with the best in Ardennes types of races.

Wow, Breschel to Cannondale would be really nice. Exactly the type of rider they lack in their roster.

Chaves resigns with OGE until end of 2018
http://www.greenedgecycling.com/news/chaves-and-orica-greenedge-extend-commitment-to-2018.phps

A good move for both. He may, or may not, have what it takes to win a GT but Chaves is certainly likely to get far greater opportunities at OGE than he would had he signed for teams with larger budgets/potentially offering bigger $$$. Certainly a vote of confidence by the team and conversely by him to the team as he has certainly appeared to have "gelled" very well with the team ethos/atmosphere.

Apparently he didn't have a contract for 2016 already then.

I missed maybe something but is the Landa transfer to Sky offical?

Anyway Vegni says clearly so that Landa will come as part of Sky to the next Giro in 2016.

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/2016-giro-ditalia-to-include-three-individual-time-trials/

" I think that Mikel Landa will return though next year with Team Sky, so I don’t think that Froome will be there."

deal's probably one but Sky tends not announce it's signings until after the Worlds.

ok thanks a lot!

Anyone know what Dion Smith's contract status is? He seemed to ride well at Alberta, so a PCT should attempt to snap him up.

Bora Argon 18 extend the contracts of Shane Archbold (26, NZL), Ralf Matzka (26, GER), Christoph Pfingsten (27, GER) and Michael Schwarzmann (24, GER). All are part of the sprint train they've been developing this year for Sam Bennett and also are used to help Phil Bauhaus.

Van Keirsbulck extended with Etixx: http://www.etixx-quickstep.com/en/news/show/etixx-quick-step-extends-contract-with-van-keirsbulck/2399

According to CQ that means Etixx now have 27 riders under contract for 2016. 3 places left with Cavendish, Renshaw, Maes and Golas' futures uncertain. You would think Maes will definitely stay which leaves two spots open.

Uran and Kwiatkowski are confirmed as leaving. Jungels, Dan Martin, Martinelli, De Plus, Gaviria and Contreras are the six confirmed signings so far.

Yeah, that's what Sky usually does with announcements. I'm surprised we haven't heard of more riders leaving the team yet though. Only confirmed news is Porte to BMC and Alex Peters signing as a neo pro.

You're right for the number of riders, Lefevre always told that he was downsizing his team gradualy to meet the reduced number of riders per team limit which will take place in (can't remember) 2017?

So that might be an indication of Cavendish leaving if Lefevre is serious about diminishing his number of riders...

More teams are doing that. It results in having not enough riders in good form at the end of the year. In the mean time those reforms are postponed or not executed at all. Besides, I didn't understand why decreasing a team in 2014 helps you in 2017, having mostly 1 or 2 year contracts.
