Vaughers confirmed Michael Woods to Cannondale Garmin.

just read the rusty woods story via his blog..... it is great description of earning it the hard way!

Go Michael Woods - Ardennes here he comes - I hope so!

I don't really get this signing. JV had Gaimon, who -- while maybe not the most top-notch rider -- has a huge following, has a book out, loads of social media followers, and was perhaps the ballsiest of the anti-doping crowd. But JV dumps Gaimon. Only to pick up, a year later, basically the same rider, but one with not much (till now) of a following, no book, lower social media profile, etc.

Woods has more talent than Gaimon.

Ye Woods is very talented, he is only riding for 3 years, he is a good climber and he is very explosive. He should have some growing margin left so I think this is a very good signing.

why would it matter the guy has written a book?

All Gaimon was doing was taking attention away from Jonny V. And we all know that's what Vaugthers is in it for

What is a sponsorship for, if not attention? Thus --> Jens Voigt.

What hapens with Ryder then?
Uran probably signd wit them because they said that he'll ride the Tour as a leader and as an American on an American team Talansky will (sadly) probably also just ride the Tour. If Ryder is leaving that probably means Formolo + Dombrowski for the Giro (the Giro hppens to be Joe' favourite race).

Ryder to Lampre, I believe this has been confirmed.

OGE will be a good fit for Taaramae, wonder if that is one of the two teams he's got offers from.

I also had the same thought regarding Taaramae.

Why so ?? He's not likely to ride high GC & it's not as if he's a top rank domestique. He's been a national TT champion but that does not equate to being elite in any way.

I'm struggling to see just what he would "bring to the table" to make him a particularly worthwhile signing.

WT one week stage races, along with a stagehunting role at GT's.

He won ONE GT stage four years ago but there hasn't been a result in a WT race since. There was a 2nd at Tour of Turkey but whilst it's a good race, you never see the major climbers present.

They've already got a number of riders fitting the bill you stated and at this stage we don't know whether the likes of the Yates or Chaves will ever be more than that. The likes of Gerrans, Impey, Albasini can bring in these results as is. WHY taken on another when he doesn't clearly strengthen the team in ANY key facet ?

If he was going at "bargain basement" price, then there may be a case for considering him on a 1 year deal but that's about it. I wouldn't throw good $$$ at him.

Betancur to Movistar.

I don't know about this one yet. Probably won't be on a monster salary after all the "downs" he had. If he somehow regains his 2013/2014 form... YAY... if he doesn't, i guess this will turn out to be a JJ Cobo 2.0 for Movistar.

Either way, Lavenu is probably happy that this case is now (as good as) closed. :D
