Good to see the 5 years of consecutive injuries haven't completely stopped Reis from having a career
Sure he'll never be as good as it seemed when he was ranked world #1 junior, but at least he's still going.

I'm guessing Trofimov will be Caja's GC guy for all major spanish stage races. That should be quite a chance for him. Won't get that chance elsewhere. Gazprom for example already had several other riders of his type wanting leadership

Riis' Team Virtu Pro-VéloConcept:

Bo Handberg Madsen will continue to direct the women's program Team Virtu Pro-VéloConcept next season. The team has signed 10 riders and their combined UCI points will rank them among the top level teams that will compete in the second edition of the Women's WorldTour.

The roster includes Small, who split 2016 racing first for Cervelo Bigla and then Cylance, along with Pernille Mathiesen, Christina Siggaard, Camilla Møllebro Pedersen, Louise Norman Hansen, Jannie Sand, Sara Mustonen, Sara Penton, Claudia Koster and Natalie Kerwin.
...
Michael Skelde will direct the men's Continental team Team Virtu Pro-VéloConcept, which has finalized their roster with 13 riders; Alexander Kamp, Rasmus Guldhammer, Michael Carbel, Kasper Asgreen, Niklas Larsen, Andreas Hyldgaard Jeppesen, Michael Reihs, Thomas Nybo Riis, Mark Sehested Pedersen, Anthon Charmig, Mads Rahbek, Nicolaj Moltke Steen and Niklas Eg.

A few ex-Stölting riders there.

Yes, Reis getting a contract at PCT-level is great news.

It's not a bad move for Trofimov, he'll have some freedom there with Caja Rural's lineup having been absolutely gutted this offseason, losing most of their most established and strongest names with Bilbao, Barbero and Gonçalves among their riders with the best palmarès the last couple of years, and Carthy one of their most promising young riders. They've held on to Benito and Rosón which is good, but with Arroyo's future unclear, having some experienced WT hands to go with Pardilla makes sense.

There's also going to be a new Spanish-based South America-owned development team next year with the Equipo Bolivia coming into existence, seemingly following the same format as the Ecuadorian Team Ecuador and the Dominican Inteja-MMR. Across the squad they claim to have eighteen riders (seven Bolivians, two Colombians, an Ecuadorian and eight Spaniards) plus more to come, split across a professional and an amateur lineup, and former mountain goat Lale Cubino has come on board as director along with former Tour stage winner Javier Murguialday. The team will debut in Costa Rica in December before its first forays as a Continental team, likely in the Challenge Mallorca.

The only names announced so far are Spanish, although it's worth noting that they have perhaps done better than many of the other such teams in the Spanish péloton in that their first signing is a relatively established name, former Caja Rural and Cofidis pro Egoitz García, who has been slumming it at a lower level recently with Al Marakeb but has some solid results going back three or four years and against some of the weaker fields in domestic races he may be able to shore them up with results. They've also brought in Pedro Gregori, a veteran of the Spanish amateur scene who was a latecomer to the sport, won the Volta a Galicia back in 2013 and podiumed it again this year. This will be his first continental level team, at the age of 29 (the age on CQ is a typo, he's born '87 not '78); there's also Sergio Rodríguez Reche, 24, who they've plucked from Caja Rural's amateur feeder and a decent if unspectacular climber; and former Contentpolis rider Iván Martínez, 31, who's been bouncing around the amateur scene with the very strong Valencia Terra i Mar team for a few years and won the Vuelta a Tenerife and Vuelta a Ávila this year; finally the last of the five signings announced today was young prospect David Calleja, who I can't find much by way of notable results for, although he's very young and the article I found suggested he would be part of the amateur/development setup. Operating on a Bolivian licence means no .HC races for them, which would suggest Portugal rather than Burgos in August, too.

The new Crelan-Willems pro conti team of van Aert:

Nuyens said in a press release that Van Aert and his fellow specialists Tim Merlier, Stan Godrie and Jappe Jespers will continue to focus on cyclo-cross under former world champion Niels Albert.

"Niels Albert will help our riders daily with his expertise," Nuyens said. "The focus of Van Aert remains in cyclo-cross. The Pro Continental status of the team only provides Van Aert the ability to test his limits on the road, even in the top classics. But a switch to the road is absolutely not in discussion."

The road team has brought on Classics-specialist Stijn Devolder for 2017, a two-time winner of the Tour of Flanders, to help elevate the squad that also includes Timothy Dupont, Gaëtan Bille and Dries De Bondt, Sander Cordeel, Christophe Prémont, Aidis Kruopis, Stef Van Zummeren, Elias Van Breussegem, Huub Duyn, Otto Vergaerde and neo-pro Michael Goolaerts.

I think they'll do real well with that squad, they were already one of the better CT teams last year. I wonder if they'll get wildcards for many of the Flemish classics, but with Devolder they should! I hope Van Aert already tries some of them.

Does anyone know how it will work with the cross riders on their team that don't have a pro contract like Joeri Adams?

I'll imagine they follow Gianni Vermeersch to the new team of Bart Wellens
Vermeersch rode the road season last with Verandas Willems, as his contract wasn't renewed by Marlux Napoleon Games. Now, as you say, he is riding for Bart Wellens' Steylaerts Verona team. Will be interesting if he rides for Verandas Willems on the road this year, whether he will stick around for the cross season.

can't see them not invited for Het Volk, Gent Wevelgem, E3 Prijs, Brabantse Pijl...

a question might be the Ronde v Vlaanderen but why not....

CCC had an RVV invite this year, I can't imagine this team not getting one.
Yeah well, Cofudis didn't get one thus year. I'll never follow the logic of the organisers
With the top belgium classics, I presume they pick the wild card teams by selecting all the belgium pro conti's first. Then I don't know what they do. I would select the nearest countries, so the dutch, then french, then british (One procycling), then anywhere else if they have one.

Apparently German Nicolas Tivani has signed with Unieuro.

Our how winning a stage from a breakaway can land you a contract in Europe
To be fair, he was also pretty decent in the Tour du Maroc and he just turned 21 and had a few good results in Europe as a Junior rider in 2013.
Unieuro is also just a CT team, so it's not like he'll race against a field that is on a different level (at least durning his fist year).

Apperently the other Cyclocrossers of Crelan will ride for a new team: Sauzen Pauwels-Vastgoedservice
This opens another question. Will this team use Sram and continue on Colnago's or go to shimano and another bike brand? Will the Verandas Willems team continue to ride Specialized or swap to Colnago or another brand? Likewise, will they continue to use shimano? To be honest, will the cross team and road team use different bike brands, as Wout van Aert helped develop the current Colnago cross bike.

I dont know about Sram/Shimano, but van Aert has a contract with Colnago until 2019, and Colnago for sure must keep him.
So I think Colnago will move to the new team with him ( and Crelan obsviously)

who cares?

for me one of the most interesting topics every season is who wears what and who rides what. all the sponsorship deals and changes. the suppliers, the personal sponsors etc etc.
