Trek-Segafredo round out their roster with Tsgabu Grmay and Nicola Conci.

Alafaci, Beppu, Bernard, Brambilla, Brandle, Coldean, Conci, Daniel, De Kort, Degenkolb, Didier, Eg, Felline, Frame, Gogl, Grmay, Guerreiro, Irizar, Mollema, Mullen, Nizzolo, Pantano, Pedersen, Rast, Reijnen, Skujins, Stetina, Stuyven, Van Poppel

Definitely an interesting team with a lot of talented guys and quite young, but may find big, big wins hard to come by now they lost Alberto. Need Dege, Mollema, Felline to step up big time and strong yearly progression of Pantano, Pedersen and Stuyven to continue. I wonder who they will spend the Contador money on in 12 months time??

Big wins were pretty hard to come by for Alberto as well.

Re: Re:

PCS lists QS as having 26 guys now pencilled in for next season and the only rider not accounted for from the 2017 team is Eros Capecchi.

Maybe 2 more riders to come? or 1+Capecchi being renewed?

Julian Cardona to Cannondale.
Has shown some time trial talent, and I can remember a somewhat impressive attack in a Vuelta a San Juan mountain stage (where he eventually lost heaps of time), but surely there are more impressive young Colombians than Cardona?
The current U23 generation is probably the worst it's been in a long time. Julian Cardona, Javier Montoya and Adrian Bustamante are the only few diamonds in the rough. The rest has either no business of getting into European professional cycling or will have to do with some odd team like Wilier helping them out.

Seems like the first 14 names for the upgraded Burgos-BH squad are as follows:

Jorge Cubero (Burgos)
Daniel Lopez (Burgos)
Igor Merino (Burgos)
Alvaro Robledo (Burgos)
Ibai Salas (Burgos)
Pablo Torres (Burgos)
+
Jesus Ezquerra (Tavira)
Silvio Herklotz (Bora)
Victor Langellotti (UC Monaco)
Matvey Mamykin (Katyusha)
Jose Mendes (Bora)
Diego Rubio (Caja Rural)
Nicolas Sessler (Lizarte)
Jordi Simon (Soul Brasil)

Some interesting names. Big (and probably) last chance for Herklotz, Mamykin and Simon to re-start their careers. Sessler is an exciting prospect from Brazil. And Victor Langellotti will be the first Monegasque pro.

Competition for Wild Cards is going to be insane next year. Two Italian PCT teams plus CCC and Rusvelo competing for two Giro invites, after the first two go to the Italian Cup winners and Israel Cycling Academy. Six French teams plus all of the other bigger PCT outfits competing for four Tour invites. Two Spanish teams plus Manzana and Aquablue (if they don't get the Tour) and probably some other random leftovers competing for the two Vuelta invites left over after Cofidis and Caja Rural get their guaranteed slots.

I'm not sure if the sudden burst of new PCT teams (including Axeon and others not already mentioned) means that the division is recovering from its long slump, or if it just means that because the division is so weak teams and sponsors think they can get GT exposure on the cheap by going PCT rather than Conti.

That same site reports they are in negotiation with Murias rider Adrian Gonzalez and Caja's Edu Prades as well. Not a bad squad of 16 if they get those last two across the line, will be interesting to watch.

Since when do the first two teams of the Italian cup get invited to the Giro? Normally only Androni receives a certain wildcard for the Giro. Or did that rule actually change?

I expect Bardiani to be there nevertheless the doping cases this year. Simply because they got Ciccone and RCS even invited YelloFluo after all their scandals.

Wilier actually has shown like nothing in the Giro for the last editions now. It looks like they're mainly there for business interests plus a potential breakthrough performance by Mareczko. But will that really be enough this time around?

Gazprom pays a check to attempt the Giro. There's little doubt about that. As good as their team looked on paper this year... They were horrible. But RCS is in big need of money...

Which could come from the Israel cycling team instead. They've shaped up their rooster and maybe with Hermans and Sbaragli they've got even more to offer than Gazprom. But eventually we knever saw Vacansoleil nor Rompoot when the Giro started in the Netherlands. Remember that at least Vacansoleil had some decent guys like Carrara, Hoogerland, Brice Feillu and Marcato on it's rooster back then... Still ain't no wildcard for them back then.

CCC is out already I guess.

Will there actually be 5 wildcards for the Giro, because of the smaller teams?

If so it's likely: Androni, Bardiani, Wilier or Nippon, Gazprom or Israel, plus as a big surprise either Fortuneo, Cofidis or Wanty based on which team ASO signals to ignore for the Tour. Vegni and Prudhomme certainly gonna have an informal chat about that, in everyone's interest!

They don't. But two invites are already accounted for because of the start in Israel (and confirmed by the spending spree Cycling Academy have been on, getting their team GT ready). Israel Cycling Academy are as nailed on as Cofidis in the Vuelta. So the three remaining Italian teams, Rusvelo, CCC and anyone else looking for a Giro invite will be competing for two places.

I agree with you that CCC probably have little chance against both the locals and big money foreign rivals.
