So only Oss (great as he is) for additional support for Sagan. A shame they couldn't get one of the two Greg got (Bettiol and Roelandts) or van Baarle. Peter needs a lieutenant deep in the races to chase or launch him.JoeD1997 said:Bora confirm that Grosschartner is the last man on their roster for 2018. 4 in: Grosschartner, Formolo, Kennaugh and Oss means 4 out: Jose Mendes, Silvio Herklotz, Shane Archbold and Jan Barta.
Isnt that exactly what Oss is tho? It doesn't get much better than what he did in Roubaix. And if Postlberger can continue doing well on the cobbles its a very decent squad.Netserk said:So only Oss (great as he is) for additional support for Sagan. All in all a huge improhement. I agree though that instead of 3 climbers and one classics guy it should rather have been the other way around considering Sagan is their most important rider who drastically lacks support. Oss helps, but he alone doesn't make bora a good support squad for classicsJoeD1997 said:Lotto-Soudal confirm Marczynski extends for three more years.

Anderis said:I can think of at least 3 possible reasons for that:
- Movistar expressed interest when Antunes ALREADY had his contract with CCC in place
- Antunes wants a leadership role
- Maybe CCC just offered more $$$. It has been suggested weeks ago that Movistar might be short on cash to spend on other riders having to pay Valverde, Quintana and Landa.
Libertine Seguros said:If CCC have got some kind of assurance from RCS it could make sense; he'd probably be the best climber on their roster, and they'll probably then give him some WT options. The biggest problem is that the Volta clashes with the Tour de Pologne so even if he got to do his home race he mightn't get much support against the August machines. But competing against a lot of top names in races like Croatia, Austria and a few WT races could be useful for him, more useful than being 4th in the Movistar mountain train with all the riders like Rosón, Soler, Carapaz and so on in there ahead of a triple-threat leadership. He'd probably slot in ahead of or around the level of Pedrero, Sepúlveda and de la Parte, but that's going to give him zero freedom for quite some time, a season where the second half of the year is totally leaderless like this season is unlikely, especially if Marc and Richi continue to progress. And you can't exactly use Antunes to break the wind, so he'll only really be of use in the mountains.
He likely has the level to go WT, but for continued development ProConti might be better for him. Caja Rural would have been ideal in all honesty, but I think they're a lot more reluctant to dip their toes into the Portuguese péloton after they got burnt so badly with Alberto Gallego. I thought they might have moved for Valls tbh, but Movistar is a good move for him. He will complement their mountain corps well and likely be a useful domestique, he's very good on tempo climbs. I still think the team is short a couple of rodadores, but not sure who is available who might realistically make the jump. Not many of the riders without contract who fit the bill seem particularly likely. Jan Barta, for example. At the moment, Jasha is the only non-Romance speaker on the team's roster for next year. Lluís Mas would seem ideal, but can they just keep cannibalizing Caja Rural? Samoilau is possible simply because Unzué likes to sign people he already knows, but he's not producing at the level he was before and they were happy to let him go before. Paterski would be better out of CCC's options, but is too valuable to that team and also likely to be able to command more than Movistar would be willing to pay for the role he'd find himself in. I don't see any of the French riders being realistic moves for Abarcá, they're of too much value in the French calendar with its myriad rolling and punchy one-day races. And they've still got to sort out Amador and Bennati, though I've no doubt they'll want both to extend; Bennati is too important a rouleur with his experience, and Amador is an Abarcá lifer like Erviti, Lastras and Gutiérrez. Not to mention that a decision has to be made about Bananito.
Yesterday during the coverage of Coppa Sabatini the commentator said that he signed for an emerging team but he couldn't reveal which because it's not announced yet.JoeD1997 said:Kristian Sbaragli seems to have confirmed via his Twitter 2017 will be his last year with DiData: https://twitter.com/Kri_s90/status/913421923727626240
