Woah.
Well, he was 20th in TdS and I think I saw him being quite useful for Zakarin a couple of times in various races so I think for a 22 years old rider it was not that bad and I would like to know some further details about why his team (and all other WT teams) have decided it's not enough to keep him at this level. Or maybe it was his decision, like in case of Antunes.Kazistuta said:Anderis said:What happened to Mamykin? He had such a good neo-pro season last year that I find it weird for him to end up outside of the WT. Are his injuries from Vuelta's crash so bad that he isn't expected to recover?
Dont know any exact reasons, but due to him being on my cq team this year I followed his results closely, and all year he's been prominently absent from the results. Even when in promising breaks on mountainous stages he was left behind by average climbers, so sadly enough his showing last year might be something to discuss in another subforum. I for one don't think he'll deliver on his promises, but I'd like to be proven wrong.
If Katusha lets go of their supposed right hand to Zaka, I think it's safe to assume he's not about to make a turnaround...

But a good signing for Burgos (I assume they'll be ProConti next year?)
Modolo's not the cheapest rider to bolster a squad with, seems like Cannondale are flush with funds now that they got a sponsor and the crowdfunding campaign was a success. I wonder how many other teams will go that route?Zinoviev Letter said:Modolo ---> Cannondale (team announcement)

Slipstream certainly has some salary budget to play with because they've lost a lot of quality riders. Talansky, Van Baarle, Formolo, Slagter- that has certainly freed up some funds to spend on other riders even if their budget didn't increase.Irondan said:Modolo's not the cheapest rider to bolster a squad with, seems like Cannondale are flush with funds now that they got a sponsor and the crowdfunding campaign was a success. Anyway, Modolo was a good pickup for Slipstream in my opinion.

Devil's Elbow said:On the other hand, Israel Cycling Academy already has Enger, Jensen, Örken, Avila and Raim for sprints, so Sbaragli would add hardly anything other than GT experience and having an Italian rider. He hasn't developed at all these past years and his last top-ten was at stage 5 of the Giro.
Caja have already taken on two pseudo-neos in Gonzalo Serrano and Álvaro Cuadros out of their own feeders (Serrano was decent as a stagiare, and Cuadros was in the Etixx feeders until 2016), and their own feeders also have Xavi Cañellas and Óscar Pelegrí in, who have both been excellent in the amateur scene this season, so I'd have thought they would probably be prioritized over picking up somebody from the Movi feeder, although I think he would have to look elsewhere than Abarcá since they've got their homegrown younger talents they're prioritizing (Castrillo going pro and Samitier likely to follow) as well and if they do promote somebody with more flat strength it's more likely to be Zhygunou. If ICA don't take him on, Burgos-BH may be a good fit since he's gone well in the Spanish calendar, they're looking to expand and have a few decent young riders on board, and with Mendes have now got a Lusophone element (plus Simón, if that transfer clears, spent some time on Soul Brasil). Or Wilier, who have always had a bit of a South American element.Mayomaniac said:Sbaragli to Israel Cycling Academy has been confirmed.

Speaking of Cyling Academy, will they sign their Brazilian stagiaire Nicolas Sessler?
The guy finished 17th in the Pro Ötztaler, his first race as a stagiaire, and had a good season at Lizarte, you'd think that a PCT team would try to pick him up, Caja Rural would also be a good fit for him.

Surely McLay will be on the squad, or is he leaving?
He may well not be there next season or not be selected if the team is all about Barguil, but have you seen their roster? By their dubious standards McLay is very much good enough.
