If there is one thing thats a given in cycling its that QS always will figure things out. They always do - as I have said countless of times, best team in cycling. ;)

They have lots and lots of cards to play still. I'd imagine that Lampaert will step half a level up (I think he is improving a bit year by year), he is Vandenbergh on steroids. Actually reminds me a bit of Terpstra, altho Im pretty sure he never will be able to win De Ronde the way Terpstra did. But Lampaert is the real deal. Styby and Gilbert aren't getting better, but they still have at least one very good campaign left. Gaviria is the big question mark, he better start delivering in the classics and I think he has the potential. Hopefully there will also be space for riders like Mørkøv and Asgreen, the first is having a great season and has really taken a step up and I believe that Asgreen has the ability to be a very strong superdomestique in the classics, a rider a bit ind the mold of Daniel Oss in the future. He is super strong.

Do you listen to the Souplesse podcast? Last episode, they spoke at length with Asgreen. He was interesting to listen to.

Edit: Actually, I now recall that we've spoken about that podcast before and both agreed that it was annoying the two hosts can't talk without saying øh all the time :D

Very true. I think they could get Boonen out of retirement and he'd still top-5 Paris-Roubaix.

Sometimes, but yeah, I listened to that podcast on my training ride today. Normally I don't really like it too much anymore since I got blocked by Lars on Twitter, but I have never really heard anything about Asgreen since he is kinda a late bloomer.

Yeah, I updated my post above. I don't care much for Lars either but it's often interesting to listen to their guests, though.

Apparently it's UAE or Sky for the Izagirre brothers.
Izagirre bros at Sky would be crazy. Look at what they did with Castroviejo and then imagine how good the Izagirres would be.
Castroviejo hasn't performed differently from his last years at Movistar. But Izagirres would be crazy. Ion is at a completely different level compared to Castro. He won't have anything close to the freedom his ability deserves if he goes to Sky. I guess it depends on how much he values a fat pay check.
Castroviejo has been climbing on a whole different level at Sky than previously.

Squire's right, he really hasn't. For example, at Tirreno last year he worked for Quintana in the mountains and still finished with Mollema, Roglic and ahead of Bernal. 7th overall despite working for a teammate and doing a bad time trial.

In other news. EFEPC signed a new stagiaire who is making his debut today

Laurens Ten Dam to CCC apparently. Another important mountain domestique for Dumoulin leaving the team.

They need to up the game on the transfer market soon. Furthermore Sunweb coach Morten Bennekou expects there to at least 1-2 riders more than this year (23).

Sunweb is messing up big time because their cheap PR is becoming really, really, really costly PR

Well indeed. If they don't make up for this really well, Dumoulin might regret signing for 4 more years...

Yep, it staring to look kinda sketchy over there.
Are there any relevant (good enough) domestiques still available on the market though (without or at the and of the contract)?

If they dont get in two good replacements for him and Geschke it is looking pretty weak...

But if Oomen and Kelderman riding as doms for Dumo next year and with no own ambitions it is still okay I guess. Kragh Andersen is strong too.

It leaves the squad as a whole pretty weak tho if they not signing anyone. Any rumors on who they might be signing?

Ouch, Geschke is leaving? That's a serious blow to Dumoulin's Tour squad.

Jesper Hansen (Astana) to Cofidis.

What’s up with our pro conti squads this transfer window? :surprised:

Good choice for him, if he has ambitions beyond being a domestique.

It will allow him to ride as captain in smaller stage races with climbs, and go polka dot/stage hunting in GTs Cofidis get to ride.

Hansen is a largely overlooked climber, because he doesn't say much, anywhere, to anyone..... but at this years TdF, he was routinely the last domestique (outside of team Sky, obviously  ) to get dropped from the favorites group, so there is potential there :)

Alex Kirsch from WB to Trekwho downsizes his total riders to 24 because they have a female team next season

Fine with a women's team but 24 riders is pushing it a bit. With injuries and whatnot I think 25 is the low limit for WT teams.

I'd imagine they knew about the leaving riders for a while and have a plan. Some youngsters of their developement squad will turn pro plus they probably have signed some riders already but just haven't confirmed them yet.
That said, Schachmann would be an ideal fit. He hasn't received a contract offer from Quickstep yet, at least that was what he said a few days ago, because of Lefeveres missing sponsor. Is german, can tt and climb. perfect.

Yes, he would be a very good signing.
As for Ten Dam, he is not that big loss, at 37 he is only a shadow of his previous self. He is a climber, but Geschke climbed way better than him at the Tour. Maybe Andersen too. Matthews would have been better as well I guess had he not fallen ill, not to mention Kelderman. Geschke is a big loss obviously.

Sunweb surely needs 2-3 good signings now.
