yeah, he should have gone for a short extension and then he could've gone to almost any high profile team with proper support

I was wondering then and am wondering now.

Maybe because he just feels good where he is, because he thinks Sunweb delivers the perfect environment for him, because he trusts his team.
There is just nothing to be wondering about here

(and what does that even mean "proper support"? Sky? But then? )

I dont really know what Jesper Hansen adds to a team at this point. He is a decent climber, but he is limited everywhere else.

Exactly the type of rider that French teams often signs. He is still a bit better than several of the similar riders on Ag2r (Dupont, Chevrier, Bidard, Domont) for instance. But for sure it was expected that he would not get reneved by Astana, where he has not been of much use.

Dupont is a far better rider than the other 3. He is also probably still a better GT rider than Hansen even in his very advanced age.

Dupont rides in a more or less free role every Giro and has become a completely invisible bad version of Monfort. Incapable of any kind of results, very rarely making any breaks and just getting his useless top 20 overall by never having a really bad day. I rate him very low and below a rider like Domont that can actually do some work and get in breaks. Jesper Hansen is also a much better rider that is actually capable of showing himself in front and making results sometimes.

Dupont has become the French De Graef lately at the Giro d'Italia! Denz, Cherel, Jaregui and Co all were at least active and visible at some point of the race. Dupont had become old and is far away from 2011 where he lightened the race with Gadret and started the French Renaissance in cycling.

That's all well and good, except you are comparing him with Hansen who is even more boring in GTs.

Hansen's job isn't exactly to be exiting in GTs. It's to perform his job for his captain, whoever that might be.

Also, a rather funny story about him from his time as a stagiaire at Saxo during the US Pro Challenge.
Essentially Sutherland wanted to test him, so he ordered him to pull on one of the hardest climbs of the race.
As requested, so done. He basically dropped everyone, including Sutherland, so Rogers had to go up and stop him.

Filippo Ganna to Sky is done according to Gazzetta.
Nooooooooooo
Why? It's the transfer that makes the most sense of all. With his and Sky's ties to the track and Pinarello, it was a miracle it took so long if anything.
Never claimed it doesn't make sense.
Then what's the problem?
I don't like it when a rider I have liked and followed for years signs for a team I despise. I thought that was obvious.

Moreno Hoflannd leaves Lotto Soudal and goes to EF Drapac
Lars Bak leaves Lotto Soudal and goes to DD

Roger Kluge from Mitchelton to Lotto Soudal

Jonas Rickaert from Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise to Cofidis

Wait, what? Nothing on the DD Facebook page about it.

No official confirmation so far. Only a rumor coming (from the usually well informed) Nieuwsblad ;)

Great move for him.
Yeah, it's perfect for him, probably the only team that leave a total freedom to ride on the track, a team where he could improve also in medium/long TT and especially his climbing.
I'd expect a very big improvement from him considering than he's in the worst team for talent developing.

I don't know much about his talent but does Ganna have lots of potential or will he be more like a Puccio for team Sky? A great domestique for years to come Puccio also had lots of great U23 results but he never really made the step up, but he really made great domestique over the years
