Back to transfers etc.....
word is that two brothers from a queensland town will be signing with Astana.
Shame their respective teams don't know it yet. :)

Well Aaron Kemps who is also from Bundaberg has joined Fly V Australia with Scott Davis recruiting him. Seems a bit strange if Scott is moving on.

Seems that blood is thicker than water..... :D
yes Aaron Kemps has just signed with Fly V Australia, but remember who were the two bundy boys waiting for Astana Contracts???? Alan and Aaron.

Now that Aaron has signed, seems like little brother is going to jump camp and head to Astana with big brother.

I don't know about Scott, but I know Allan is talking to them. But it is by no means confirmed and he may stay with QuickStep or sign elsewhere. I know he is chatting with Astana and several teams.

I also know Aaron left Astana only because he was ****ed off with Bruyneel.

Lefevere just paid hard cash to learn what it means what most Spanish 'GT talents' are. :D

But really, from 'De Omloop' on almost every pro race on Belgian soil is broadcasted live on national TV. Apart from actually winning the TDF, winning 'de Ronde' is the highest you can get. Roubaix is a good third. There are a lot of guys who can potentially win those races. There are maybe 2 or 3 who can win the TDF. Lefevere understands this. He wanted Contador and I'm sure he would have build a hell of a team around him, but he couldn't het him and unless Schlecklet gets into a fistfight with Riis Lefevere is not going to be on the market for a GC contender anymore. You can say a lot about Lefevere (and please do) but he knows how to pick his fights.
Lotto on the other hand put a lot of money in an unlikely TDF victory. They got next to nothing the last years. Gilbert can't cover up everything on his own there.
Lefevere has tried in the past. Remember Tonkov, Rujano, ...
Never worked out.

judging from the interview with lefevre that was in gazet van antwerpen today and also was on sporza.be he seems to have learned from that experience..

He still wants a GT-contender but since shleck will never leave saxo and he can't have contador he's keeping the money in the pocket instead of doing like a certain other belgian team that spent millions on a so called GT-winner who never won a thing.

smart man.

Besides from that the fact that quickstep didn't sign that much seems to be owing to the fact that they signed a lot of riders the year before and that he wants to keep his present roster together and integrate the boys from the year before even better in it, I for one believe that chavanel is going to have a much beter season in 2010 now that he knows the ropes with quickstep.

Allan Davis' contract has not been renewed. He is having trouble finding a team.

This is not a repeat of the last four years

Lefévère is saving the money in case Contador and his helpers become unattached.

I guess Davis could say "DEY TOOK AR JERBS!"

What was the story behind that?

Aurélien Clerc has retired from professional cycling after not being able to find a new team. He was linked with a move to BMC, but nothing came of it. So he will now work as an adviser to a Swiss insurance company.

Kemps was with Astana before they brought in Bruyneel. When Bruyneel came in they stopped caring about the classics and other races and only cared about overall contenders.

Kemps is a sprinter and Bruyneel apparently just cold shouldered him and said he had no use for him. Kemps was ****ed off about how he was treated. I read an article where he stated so.

Interesting, bruyneel and Armstrong are trying to tell us that they have an all round team with Radioshack when really 80 -90% of their riders are for stage races. You have a few classics and sprint guys and that's it.

It's not like he has better choices

Probably, but until few weeks (month?) ago he was linked very close to a spanish team with a possibility to ride Vuelta.

Pretty much they hope Steegmans can put up some results and maybe one of the "stage race" guys can do something at one of the one day climbing classics.

If they do, they can say they're an "all-round" team well enough, despite that not really being the case.

NRR aside, I'm struggling to think of the last time a Bruyneel rider (US Postal/Discovery Channel/Astana) won a decent one day race. There have been podiums, but not actually crossing the line in first spot. Must of been a while.

Come on, Paris-Nice is not a one day. And those are two very huge races right there. Seems like if they just put their resources into winning one days, they could. Lance wins stages of the tour, why not an Ardennes Classic?

Maybe because everybody shows up on the starting line with the same level of "recovery"?

I still never understand how Lance never won Amstel Gold and L-B-L. He was second in 1999 and 2001 and would of won the 2003 L-B-L if he raced with his brain. A classic pre-cancer Lance. And Hincapie to date is one of the best guys never to have won RVV and Roubaix.

Paris-Nice, Huh? That would be the 1000+kms marathon, then.
So, no Bruyneel rider has one a decent one day in the past 3 years, from your info.

Don't tell me it was Big George's KBK/ GP Plouay, back in 2005?
