They've signed Iljo Keisse, Silver medal @ World Championship (points), Gold @ European (Madison) & 4the @ Olympics (Madison).
That's something, no?

A sprinter and a GC rider, the season doesn't finish at the end of Spring.

They lost De Jongh, Rosseler and Cornu.
They signed Keisse and Maes. I don't see them taking over De Jongh's / Rosseler's roll directly.

Quick step is not a track team.

Yevgeniy Nepomnyachsiy is probably 25th member of Astana Team.
He was 7th on last U23 WChamp and 14th on quite hard Tour of Qinghai Lake.
We don't have confirmation from the team or KCF, but we have received info that he's in Pisa - Astana camp

Thanks for all the info from the Astana Fans - you guys have done a good job sorting through all the rumors and misinformation to figure out the real news this year. :)

De Jongh is yes a bad lost (althought he's getting around 35 nowdays?) but Rosseler was a bit dissapointing in the last 1-2 years.

For example Rosseler placed himself at 405pst of CqRanking while Maes is 410pst.

Since when are Paris-Tours & Lombardia spring classics?

Okay the classic races. Belgian teams treat RVV and PR as their peak of their seasons and it is basically their tour de france.

In QS's defense, Boonen did win the green jersey in 2007 and perhaps would still be considered a contender as a sprinter if not for his cocaine problems. Virenque also used to be a guaranteed contender in the KOM competition.

In the past, they've been content with these achievements and never put an emphasis on getting a GT contender. However, they haven't really replaced lost riders like Virenque and Bettini, which has left them looking pretty toothless for most of the grand tours.

I don't think it'd be too far-fetched for Chavanel to try for KOM. At least he is proven at attacking and getting a stage win

Back to transfers etc.....
word is that two brothers from a queensland town will be signing with Astana.
Shame their respective teams don't know it yet. :)

Lefevere just paid hard cash to learn what it means what most Spanish 'GT talents' are. :D

But really, from 'De Omloop' on almost every pro race on Belgian soil is broadcasted live on national TV. Apart from actually winning the TDF, winning 'de Ronde' is the highest you can get. Roubaix is a good third. There are a lot of guys who can potentially win those races. There are maybe 2 or 3 who can win the TDF. Lefevere understands this. He wanted Contador and I'm sure he would have build a hell of a team around him, but he couldn't het him and unless Schlecklet gets into a fistfight with Riis Lefevere is not going to be on the market for a GC contender anymore. You can say a lot about Lefevere (and please do) but he knows how to pick his fights.
Lotto on the other hand put a lot of money in an unlikely TDF victory. They got next to nothing the last years. Gilbert can't cover up everything on his own there.
