He was a former speed skater I believe.

And in the 'crazy prediction' thread I tipped him to win the polka dot jersey... :D

this could only mean either Kreuziger, Nibali, or some other big rider is leaving, or that more than one is leaving. Visconti won't be content with no possibility of leadership

Visconti is a classics guy primarily. Maybe Nibali has his ambitions in the classics, but i think it gives extra tactical options to have a guy with a fast finish as a second leader.

I thought Visconti wanted to do more on his stage racing, especially considering his beautiful win in Turkye, oh well, my mistake inspired by mistaken commentators

@ afpm90, oh right forgot about that. Well perhaps they aren't expecting Pellizoti to ride for two years ;)

As already mentioned, Visconti is a one day rider, althought he rides very well in short stage races too and Liquigas miss a Classic rider.

Scinto used to refer at him as a copy (??) of Bartoli.

Thaks Joy for the link. I saw in the comments (from the person who I *think* is Vino's relative - gets all the photos and updates from Vino onto the site) I saw that person say that they expect to sign the contract this week, and that all is going well. 3 more years for AC at Astana. That should put an end to people's speculation that Alberto and Vino cannot get along and share a team together.

I'm pleased to see Alberto stay. He seems very happy with Martinelli and Sanquer, and with Vino, the other riders, the staff, etc. Sounds like he's found a good fit.

As both a Vino and an Alberto fan, this is great news!

It is confirmed that AC will stay with Astana, well almost done

Wonderful news! As is this part of the article:

Contador’s brother expects that the agreement will be resolved as soon as possible so that he can focus on this season’s goals, among whch could be the Vuelta a España.

It's a good day to be an AC and Vino fan! :)

Edit - I'll take the Vuelta discussion over to the Contador 2010 thread so as not to derail this one.

Lampre Kashechkin vs Astana Contador on this year's Vuelta?

Sounds pretty epic.

Uhm, the vuelta thing does not seem to come from the Brother/manager, but from the editor of the website
