I get the feeling that Armstrong knew that this was going to happen with Contador, that there was a big chance that he would have to stay with his contract with Astana and thus Armstrong probably takes a little joy in grabbing the best guys from Contador so that they won't be there to help him next tour. I wonder if it was really calculated or if it's just a pleasant bonus for Armstrong.

One question is, are there really any good helpers that Contador can recruit that aren't already under contract for next year? It seems like alot of the names that there are speculations about are spoken for by other teams.

Some of them are a bit long in the tooth. I wouldn't think it is that much of a hit to Contador considering none of them rode for him this year anyway. It would be funny to see Horner stay and ride for Contador though. I am guessing he is starting to see that one of the hands on the knife in his back was the Uniballer's.

According to Horner, he's going to The Shack. Those were the words out of his mouth during the Vuelta coverage today on Universal.

Dang, I'm 0 for 2 today. If you are betting, ask me and then do the opposite. You'll come out fine.

If Astana wants any rider, they will probably have to pay the rider's entire contracted salery at the moment of signing. Just saying...

+1.... (-1 for the Horner statement though :p)

He said on dutch TV that he goes to a team where he can ride for himself and will be the guy for the classics. If the Ballan and Hincapie rumour is true I doubt he´ll have much freedom at BMC...
So you believe Ballan and Hincapie will be targeting the Ardennes classics?

Nordhaug going there is a surprise. What do you think?
I think Sky, like any PT-team, needs inexpensive but capable domestiques and that Nordhaug fits the bill perfectly.

Didn’t he win the last stage of the Tour of Ireland? I guess he is a good prospect that would ride in the smaller races and maybe pick up a few wins.

I agree. Its a great opportunity for him. Hopefully he will do a good job for the team.

I didn't see the last stage myself, but he won it.

According to the article it was possibly a wish from EBH to also get Nordhaug on the team in the same way that other big stars have suggestions about riders they want to have with them on the team. If that's the case then it says alot about the clout that EBH already has at such a young age.

It can very easily have been part of a deal to sweeten the pot so that EBH chose Team Sky over other teams. At any rate I totally think he deserves to be in the PT so it's by no means charity.

According to Belgium TV Bradley Wiggins to Team Sky is now a done deal.

It seems like Wiggins is actually staying at Garmin next year:

The team will also support Christian Vande Velde and Bradley Wiggins at the Tour de France by adding climbers, said Vaughters. Climbers Fredrik Kessiakoff and Michel Kreder will ride for the team in 2010, while time trialists Peter Stetina and Tom Zirbel complete the list of six riders added to the Garmin roster.

Remember how Bob Stapleton said an agreement with Kirchen was "extremely close"?

Now some random danish site reports Kirchen's signed with Katusha.

Today is the first day when teams and riders can admit to transfers, so a lot more should transpire today :)

Also, it was unofficially known Petacchi would be riding for Lampre, but today it's been officially confirmed. That and the Kessiakoff, Hunter and Van Summeren to Garmin transfers that had been reported a couple months ago.

Edit: And Zirbel to Garmin. That one's new as far as I know.

Marcus Burghardt has signed with BMC for two years.

They can't be that far away from getting a Tour wildcard spot.
