UAE took the whole podium. Cant argue with that. Best possible outcome for them even though the least expected rider won it.

I don't think rota could have won even if he closed the attack to polance, because he couldn't outsprint ayuso.

Shame that UAE is so strong

A shame Rota made the mistake of not responding there, otherwise I think everyone played their hand well in the finale.

I don't think he made a mistake, he just didn't enough have left to do so. And if he had responded, one of the other UAE riders would have won instead.

His biggest mistake was trying to attack five other riders from two teams, when he should have just sat on and saved energy.

Polanc just said the 22 riders got the gap in the descent from Testico and then extended it in the valley when they figured the whole team was there.

I don't think so, if he had kept a gap after the descent it could have been a winning move.

Sure, but at that moment in the race, I think it's generally better to make moves than to respond to others. There's always the risk that cooperation fails and a gap suddenly gets big in a short time.

And I don't think he wasted much energy in attacking over the top of the climb.

Let's go Jan!!! What a display of guts and also strength.

He worked a lot and he was always able to come back.
