Coe was a VERY VERY early adopter of sports science - his father was a nutter for 'out-teching' the opposition. He was doing heart and 02 tests from an early age when most of his peers still simply ran in circles for hours. Whether he doped as well, I've know idea - but his record for 800 stood for decades.
