Yates may have thrown away 2nd in GC there by celebrating early. Not that it makes much of a difference, though

While the echelons sealed the deal, Yates would still have been 9'' behind Evenepoel in the GC if the front group had been caught in stage 1 (all else equal).

Kudos for remco, another race win.
Neverthless, clearly, he is not yet at the same level of pogacar and vingegaard on the climbs.
Pogacar would win this UAE tour with some easiness.

He would, but Pogačar's first main goal of the season is MSR and RVV. Remco's first main goal is the Giro and he still has more than two months to drop the 2-3 extra kilos that he has.

This does seem to be the case, but you have to wonder what Remco could do at 100%. Pogacar and Vingegaard are in better shape now, because they can rest and rebuild after the classics to have a second higher peak at the Tour. By contrast, since the Giro beckons, Remco can't be further along now, and thus must super peak then. We should see more of his stuff at Catalunya and Liege, now it's too soon. As for Yates, this is his entire season.
