I was struck by a sudden thought. ( I know, painful)
This may be a conspiracy theory too far, but isn't today the day when Angelo Zomegnan makes his final, final announcement, re the teams taking part in the Giro?
Coincidence?

I'm not sure when the UCI first muted this situation, but it's going back a while.

Therefore, my money is on either Tirreno Scarponi or Garzelli
being the big name and maybe their team getting the Giro boot, in favour of ISD.........

Don't know if I'd call Cunego a 'favourite'. I reckon it'll be either Basso or Pellizotti.

I think it will be Pellizotti or Garzelli (like a few others have deduced). I'll be shocked if it is Cunego and to a lesser degree if it is Basso. Maybe Ballan. Might be all of them if there are 5. Doubt that though. That really would blow my mind. Either way someone is in trouble.

Tuttobici now says five to eight riders: "a Russian, two Spaniards, a Slovenian and probably two Italians. One of these has no plans to race the Giro."
