I don't race MTB anymore, but I so much prefer watching XC over many of the road races these days. Better ambience and if I'm to be honest, a little bit less clinical activity
I find XC MTB more interesting, as it's not solely about who has the biggest engine...... There is the technical skills part of the sport; if you haven't got them, you'll pay for it, by either crashing, or losing time, and wasting energy trying to make up lost ground.

He should, he has said XC worlds is his big goal for the season.

Yeah, absolutely! If it really is his big goal, then he needs plenty of time training, and actually racing on the MTB. The XCO Worlds course in Crans-Montana is ultra technical......it even caused Nino problems last year.

I wonder if he'll turn up to Nove Mesto??

yeah... especially when 99% of the riders and fans didn't ask for such change or didn't have any problem with the tradition... and since the prize money are mostly pathetic in MTB why don't give the riders at least the opportunity to stand on the podium and enjoy the crowds cheers for their hard effort.

MTB is becoming a joke.

The portuguese organization of the DH World Cup of Lousã in 2020 (one of the few events who stood against the pandemic) isn't even organizing competitive races anymore. They are instead promoting a testing event following the DH World Cup racing structure with Practices, Quali and Finals.

Vali Holl, Kolb, Bruni, Iles, Dunne, Coulanges, Levesque, Thirion, Meier-Smith, Hart, Hatton, Seagrave, Maes, Daprela, a.o., all participating.

It speaks volumes when it's better for an organization to take forward a testing day instead of a competitive race with all those names.

I'm afraid MTB racing with WB/D have followed the motorsport model; If you want a round of the series, you need to show the £$£$£$£$ - Otherwise nothing. I suspect a 'testing event' is a better deal financially for the organisers....

Round 2 from Araxa - and the XCC races are completed.
Another XCC win for Isabella Holmgren, and a win for Wiler-Vittoria's young Italian rider Elian Paccagnella.

Evie wins again, and break's PFP's number of XCC World Cup wins. Blevins also repeats in a Speciallized 1-2 ahead of Koretzky.

Yeah, but won't show it on the broadcast........

They don't want to be seen to back down.......

Holmgren makes it 4/4.....
  1. I am in race heaven this weekend.
  2. I really hope there are more podium crashing events until they just revert to having the 5 person podium as part of the ceremony. No f*cking compromise on this. WBD are being a**hats. It is really p*ssing me off.
  3. The Brazil courses look so nice. I would love to race there

Looking forward to chatting about an MVDP race in this thread soon.
He will take a nice break, play some golf, then he will put out his summer/fall calendar. But I would say, he better get back on the MTB soon and do some training on it if he wants to add the XCO World Championship to his palmares. He certainly needs to learn how the front MTB tires grip in loose corners.

Yeah, I still think he should do what he did in 2019; a short rest, then some MTB racing, and leave the Tour alone.....but that's not happening.
I doubt he's done very little on the MTB since the Paris test event....and unlike CX, he can't just turn up and be comfortable on the MTB straight away.

he'll do very little mtb, fail spectacularly at Worlds for the 3rd (or 4th?) time and finally give up... imho.

Considering it's a big target, so far nothing has persuaded me he's serious about it.........I'm prepared to be wrong - and he turns up in Nove Mesto. I can't see him doing what Pidcock has previously done, and turn up at French, Swiss Cup races to get the MTB race legs going.
