I have read in twitter that licences can no longer be sold.

✅ Can a UCI World Team license be sold now?

📜 UCI rules on license transfer

  • Article 2.15.044 of the UCI regulations states that a WorldTour license cannot be transferred to a third party within two years of issuance. Since all current licenses were issued on January 1, 2023, they can only be transferred from January 1, 2025 onward
  • Article 2.15.046 adds that any license transfer requires:
    • Payment of a fee equal to the original license cost to the UCI,
    • Review and approval by the License Commission or potentially the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)

so it is now allowed to Intermarche to sell it's license to other team. they can do it right after the season ends, around november

Absolutely. The worst possible scenario for Intermarché is being relegated and then not being a top3 PT teams for the year.
Which again is not exactly impossi

i wonder if Girmay will want to ride at all, or he will watch himself, cause he is already on is way out.
in this case UNO-X can pass them, after they will pass COFIDIS.

It is slightly more complicated though, as article 2.15.045 also states: "A transferred licence shall expire at its original term."

So the decisive question is whether a license transfer before the end of the season will also transfer the UCI points of the previous team to the new team, and I couldn't find an unambiguous answer to that question.

yes, that what will happen:

Transfer Request to the UCI

  • A team may formally request to transfer its WorldTour license to another structure (new ownership or merged team).
  • The UCI reviews the sporting, ethical, financial, and administrative criteria of the receiving entity.
  • The transfer must occur before registration deadlines (typically autumn).

⚠️ UCI may reject a transfer if:
  • The new entity doesn’t meet full requirements,
  • The old team didn’t fulfill obligations (e.g. rider payments),
  • The move seems to circumvent sporting merit or fairness.

It won't be relevant in the end as he stands too good in gc, but maybe someone knows the answer. Higuita got a 25 points penalty yesterday. As of now, his points do not count as he is in 21st position from Astana. So then, the penalty does not count as well against the team?

Penalty counts solely against his points tally - If he had scored 100 points, then his score is lowered to 75. It is not a penalty against the team.

Intermarché also really has to start watching out, cause if that merger doesnt go through and don't stay in the WT that's over & out for them I fear.

Also doesn't really put them in a really good position in negotiations with Lotto if everyone knows they are done without the merger

I think Intermarche are safe due to Cofidis being terrible.
I find it unlikely that Cofidis gains 1600 points on them.by the end of the season.

But is it unrealistic that they lose like 1900 to UNO X (which will probably be the gap after tomorrow)? Look I'm not saying it's gonna happen, they have a buffer and they need to keep being really bad till the end of the season to miss it, BUT they are not safe imo.

Yeah, I honestly forgot about UNO-X.
But do they have the team, the schedule and, most importantly, the need to farm points?

All in all, I agree, Intermarche aren't exactly safe. But are their rivals good enough to close the gap?

Uno-X could pass Cofidis but I doubt either pass Picnic
