23 out of those 250 retested samples, which were previously 'clean', are now positive. Almost 10%...

The percentage is probably that high because those retests were targeted, not random. However, I would still stay that 10% warrants the retesting of a lot of other samples as well.

Know athletes who have competed at the State and National level in Australia who have always maintained its a minimum of 80% of elite athletes dope.

Why aren't we getting that high amount of people caught? Money? Power? Protection? Testing not being good enough? Other???

No one is really anti-doping. All the reasons listed are good, but there are probably others!

Even Travis Tygart aint anti-doping, ask Gaitlin ;)

Of course, all the headlines want to make sure that it's the Russians are mentioned first and foremost. The previous list of 2008 positives only focused on the Russians and to my knowledge, only Russian names were made public. Do we know the individuals from other countries on that list?

It's not just Russians who are being retested. Reports I've seen suggest that they are targeting Belarus as well, in fact all the track and field athletes retested from 2012(so far) have been from those two countries. As far as the 2012 Olympics are concerned, there is no other information as to what other sports have been targeted and no names are forthcoming at the moment but I'm sure it'll be the usual suspects, both countries and sports.

It makes you wonder if there are still journalists out there that are worth their salt. These days, the most important "skill" for an aspiring "journalist" seems to be "ctrl-c, ctrl-v" and Google Translate.

bolt could lose 4x100m medal from Beijing after nesta carter tests positive.
Let's make it clear that Bolt himself is in no way accused of doping.

It would be amusing if Vino was one of the positives :D

Apparently not, only one cyclist from 2008 and 2012 and that was a Russian female track cyclist in London who didn't medal. Also a Turkish Boxer has been named from 2012.

Also found this.

Now that would be a real scandal if Vino turns out clean (probably only not targeted). In that case he should definitely sue his dealer who sold him some overpriced placebo.

There's a silly theory out there that says doping doesn't really work, it's only a placebo.

IIRC Frigo tried that defence when he was caught with a doping arsenal in his car trunk.

Frigo should have just used the defense he was doping with saline solution but saline solution is not illegal unless it is too salty for you chaster of your beer with your shot of tacquila and lime and salt
