Sad, sad day for the American taxpayers who foot the bill for this mockery of justice.

Guys/gals,

I know this if off topic but could someone please explain the significance of spending a tiny amount of money to investigate a fraud and dope dealer...when the US government spends billions of dollars a DAY in interest to the Chinese? The USA basically owes its own nation to the Chinese, continues to buy from it, and God help it if the Chinese don't recognize the USD in the near future.

Spending a scintilla of cash on Lance and his buddy's... is that even relavent?

I guess this means that some individuals should worry. Let's see if Lance has the b*lls to take the same route and subject himself to discovery. My bet is no. Inaction can speak volumes.

LOL. He shall come. I would love it. In germany the judge decides. Circumstancial evidence is enough. Sometimes even one hearsay witness is enough for the judge to make a judgement. I guess it´s the same in france. For all the documents existing against Armstrong, nobody has to fear anything when calling out the truth, which is: Lance Armstrong is a doper, doper, doper!

Don´t remember who said it: "going to court in france means full out war for Armstrong. He better don´t do it". That´s for sure.... He won´t touch anybody in europe.

So much hate. Guess you will not be joining Polish, Flicker and I for our weekly rides.

And your 'credible expert insider' reputation is shot to pieces. Joe Papp is waiting for you on that ride.

I've always liked Polish. He's a WUM who brilliantly gets under your skin. He's very entertaining.

You tried to pass it off as 'wit' as though you knew me and had the right. Even John Terry hasn't tried that lame excuse.

I brought it up and referred it to mods.

You seemed to go for the personal abuse there (ironically in a debate where I was suggesting that the Novistsky would go nowhere).

I don't care about Armstrong either way. But I'm loving seeing the likes of you in despair.

I agree that you come off quite well in the posts you show, your predictions look to have come true.

However if I were you I would find much more to get ****ed off about the " you are clinging on to a hope (not opinion)" comment than the "little ***" one.

The "little ***" comment is witty, and you kind of walked in on it, and it works regardless of whether you are friends or not. And even if you think Im wrong, surely you can take an joke, even if its from an enemy.

But the "(not opinion)" bit is what i find pathetic and very wrong. Hes calling you a liar, telling you that HE knows YOUR opinion better than you do.

He has no right to tell people what their opinions are. Your opinions are your own and solely you posses the right to tell the world what they are, not a wannabe dr phil.

I would not be saying this had Maserati, doctor of mind reading, not done the same to me before and spent 10 pages telling me what I think even as I tried to explain to him that his attempts at internet psychiatry are about as effective as alchemy.

Right...... so that counts as personal abuse?
Where you said you were going to "put a little *** in my expectations" and I made a witty retort?
I thought it was witty (I even sniggered again when i remembered it) - I had no idea it was actually personal. Then for that I do sincerely apologize and I hope it grows.

Any chance that you might now apologize for saying that I called you a "fanboy dreamer" when I never did?

Wrong yet again. Why would you think I am in despair?
Have you followed the last 100 pages of this thread?

Don't get me wrong - I am pretty surprised at this. I stated earlier this week that I was still confident in the case moving forward.
Armstrong has won this round - maybe even a bit more - but I certainly am not in despair.

Nicely done bringing Cohen into this;)

Thanks, Hitch. Both FoxyBrown and HL2037 made better points with their optimistic quotes. Go back to their recent posts. I however can't find much optimism in today's news and Leonard Cohen's music fits in better with my cynical mood and present state of intoxication (3 pints down, 2 to go).

It's good to know some people look on the bright side of life even when the bad guys win. Tonight, I am drowning myself in winter warmer.

Cheers!

Even if the burden of proof is different, expect the Qui Tam case to go the same way. Floyd is broke and pursuing Lance is too much pro bono work for even the most altruistic attorney - the Dalai Lama in a Boss suit. If the Feds abandoned this case, I don't see them eager to get involved in a civil matter.

Sorry Hitch - but the "opinion" bit was on Mambo basing their opinion in this post 8801
He's also been fined $4000, which will hopefully be put towards the estimated $70 million it cost to investigate him.

Justice, unfortunately, isn't just about right vs wrong, it's also about cost vs results, which greatly works in Armstrong's favour.
The case against Balco was (IIRC) $70m while the case against Bonds was $6 million.
That was the basis of that comment.

A good summation, thanks for posting.

Taking a leaf from the pages of a jihad manual, the way forward for the likes of Floyd et al (although I expect he's gonna be completely over this now) is to engage in a guerilla war: take constant potshots at Lance and his legacy and attempt to defame him. It will be a gadfly that Lance will be tempted to swat away with the very legal proceedings he wants to avoid.

The ol hearts and minds thing again.

This cannot be for real!!!:eek::eek::eek:

I had to check the date just to see it wasn't April 1st.

I have to say I'm exhausted. And not sure what to make of it all. Its not an exoneration but I think its the end. We'll never really get closure on the whole issue. For me its over. It does't matter how he raced those Tours. Judging by Armstrong's statement I don't think even he knows what to say. The sport looks a little silly but its used to these types of knocks.

I don't think the USADA investigation will come to much.

I feel for Tyler and Floyd whose lives have been ruined in some way or another by all this and by coming clean didn't do them a hell of lot. Perhaps personally it freed some demons but I think the world looks at them the same.

See how I feel in the morning but I think its time to move on to a new chapter.

Unless Floyd starts releasing the photos he has been sitting on for years! But then again I don't know what any of that proves. I think the majority of people are happy with not really knowing what Armstrong got up to. Its better that way.

You have to feel for them.

They have had an enormous amount of stick over this time and for a lot of people only charges against Armstrong would of seen them vindicated in what they said. Many people are now just going to accuse them as bitter old teammates who had a grudge. I fear they could be in for a lot more difficult times for the forseeable future.

The Sydney Morning Herald headline on the story is: "Lance in the clear" which means he was vindicated to the casual reader. Its disappointing but not unexpected. I really don't think it matters anymore. Its the old Coke vs Pepsi argument - you can't prove either.

Hope Tyler and Floyd find some peace after all this. Both their books will be wrapped up in legal wrangles for the foreseeable further. They rolled their dice but I honestly think Tyler will be better off for coming out. Floyd I don't know what he'll do.

Thats how the dice rolled. Life. You just have to move on.

Just was reading this on The Washongton Post:

"The decision might have been influenced by the recent decision in the highly publicized federal case against Barry Bonds, who was found guilty of obstruction of justice last year but avoided a jail term because he avoided conviction on charges of lying about using steroids. A mistrial was declared last July in the perjury case against Roger Clemens, who has been accused of lying to Congress about performance-enhancing drug use. A retrial is scheduled for April 17".

http://www.washingtonpost.com/sport...e-ends-probe/2012/02/03/gIQARWk5nQ_story.html

Or Novitsky's handlers got tired of paying... He's spent untold millions on all these cases and has very little to show for it. Not just LA but all the others.
