They chances were that they wouldn't get a Pro Tour licence anyway.

The licences would have gone to: HTC, Liquigas, GEOX, Movistar, FdJ, Euskaltel, Astana and the Schlecks.

They still will unless Pegasus buy PMcQ a holiday home on Sydney Harbour.

But Vacansoliel's hope have completely disappeared now.

Yes, and other than those teams (not counting Pegasus) I think BMC might be ahead of them in line as well especially if they get Cancellara.

Even without Eze and Ricco Vacon are a great team. They wont get PT but i hope they get into a gt or 2.

Oh yeah, I forgot them. They may be in a tight contest with FdJ and Euskaltel - but they should be OK - even without FC. (They've got the ranking points and money, which FdJ don't)

well in my opinion theres one more place now, as it normally now have to be "bye bye astana". don't see them receiving a new license any more. the "old" management (vino&his kazakh friends) came back before this and now there's another doping scandal again after the one in 2007. just one time too much.

the question is who will replace them? pegasus or vacansoleil? we have to wait what exacly happen to the ricco case to answer the question. there's still a good chance if astana really fail.

well year and that bmc gets pt was also predictable as it's laughable. sry but except evans it's just a ****ty teams. the high-rated classic guys have shown nothing this year.

well, I reckon the Vac riders were among the strongest in the WC - Leukemnans was awesome all race, Poels for a neo had a very strong race and having Romain there for the sprint in the end too. Pity they may not get invited to many races next year thanks to not being invited this year. They *always* light up the races they are in, and as I said at the time (both before and after), they would have been better then BMC at the TDF

Wouldn't call them a sinking ship. The sponsors seem very persistant. Apart from their signings mishap, if they can learn and sign the right guys next time they'll be a force in 2012

I think Van Poppel could tip the balance toward common sense. Van der Schueren is all "old cycling", as Ducrot so fondly calls it, but Van Poppel seems to have his head screwed on straight.

Signing mishap is an understatement. Signing catastrophe more like it.

Oh you blow up everything to proportions. It's not all that bad.
Let me quote to you a recent post by someone quite familiar to you:

Their whole plan for next season was based around signing Mosquera and Ricco, presumably so they could at the very least ride the Vuelta and the Giro. The sponsors are clearly desperate for Grand Tour exposure.

Doesn't take away from the fact the team is not exactly sinking either.

They 100% wanted to be Protour next year or atleast ride 2 Grand tours next year. So signing Mosquera and Ricco wasn't a bad idea, allthough Ricco smells. Anyways if Ricco didn't sign with Vacans he would sign with another team.
Mosquera was actually a rider not tainted yet. It's not like I trusted him, but I don't trust most of the better GT riders.
Picking these 2 was the fastest way to GT's, but it certainly was a bit hurried.

Ya, in an act of desperation they signed two available riders that were probably mostly available because some other teams wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole.

I wouldn't have said that about Mosquera when they signed him.

I thought signing Mosquera and Ricco were the best things they could have done. I guess I am naive about doping. I had no idea it'd get this bad so quickly.

Well it was always suspicious that a rider with the success of Mosquera was still at such a small team which would suggest that at least some teams had apprehensions about signing him.

Well Ricco was dubious, but then again so far all the riders that returned didn't get caught again and I just can't imagine someone being so bloody dumn that they would get caught twice. Then again Ricco is a little bit special.
So far they found 50 pills in his appartment and that really doesn't mean anything. I'm sure most riders have atleast 50 pills at their homes for whatever purpose.

What goes around comes around.

Two years ago I supported them and their plans. Then Hilaric (Hilaire) van der Schueren came in. Then he started buying 2nd class Belgians and booting out the Dutch. And finally he started copying his old Unibet team and buying the same failures and shady characters. Booting out more Dutch riders.

They're as bad as Flaminia now. I hope Poels, Ruygh, Westra, Mouris etc find a new team quick and get the hell out of there as soon as possible

yeah I've been frustrated with the shift away from dutch cycling. Poels and co. kept my interest this season.

should never have signed ricco. Eze I like, and his situation is a bit of a pitty.

Fdj? Euskatel? Tight contest? Good joke!

yes and if the circumstances changed with evans then he would of been up there. You can't go on hypotheticals .

You are saying BMC (even with the new riders coming in) will perform better than Euskaltel next season? Bold statement...

This season they didn't.
