Rogla > Mathieu and the flat TT guy?

Winning a bigger race doesn't mean having a better season. Its not a difficult thing to understand but if you want to put the mountain sprinter above Mathieu and Remco on your 2024 list despite them winning several big races, be my guest.

Slightly different form of poll: vote for 5, just like the electors of the Velo d'Or will (but they order their votes, and the forum software doesn't allow us to do that)

I've put in the 9 names that I mentioned earlier today as the only ones I could imagine appearing on voting slips, and (of course) the Vino option.

Any of the voters who don't put Pogacar top, Evenepoel second or third, and three from Van der Poel, Roglic, Vingegaard, Philipsen, O'Connor, Girmay, Merlier to complete their list really needs to be held to account and/or have their position as a voter rescinded. Anyone else acceptable to place in the top five?
Well Philipsen is not on the official shortlist of 10 so they won't have a chance to do that

The official shortlist is Pogacar, Evenepoel, Van der Poel, Vingegaard, Roglic, Girmay, Merlier, O'Connor, Hirschi and Jorgensen View: https://x.com/VelonCC/status/1845852642053956001

Ah, sorry: I should have remembered seeing that. Out of respect for those who have already voted, I won't change it now, and we will see how wrong the decision to omit Philipsen is thought to be.

Incidentally: 9 voters so far, 25 votes: what part of "Which 5 riders would get your votes" was difficult to understand?

I too think Philipsen should be on there, I think with these things there is a tendency to underrate better riders who have had bad seasons by their standards (e.g. Philipsen, Roglic, Vingegaard) and overrate riders who have overachieved this season but are just not the same calibre of rider (e.g. O'Connor, Girmay, Jorgensen). Both Philipsen and Girmay won 3 stages of the Tour, Girmay had a slightly better Tour because he won green but they both won 3 stages and the difference was Philipsen's relegation on stage 6. Philipsen's rest of the season is just incomparable to Girmay's, who's next best results are 2nd in Quebec and winning the Circuit Franco-Belge compared with winning Milan Sanremo and second in Paris-Roubaix. But Girmay was considered to have had a breakthrough year whereas Philipsen was previously considered the dominant sprinter and deemed to have underperformed

The organizers also clearly screwed up by not adding a Vino option, I don't know what they are playing at

The poll doesn't allow me voting Pog 5 times.

The average voter in the poll only having selected just short of 3.3 options so far tells me that the lack of an option to set a minimum number of options to select in a poll is a shortcoming of the forum software.

lol Olympics is big and all but there can only be one this year. Rest of the voes are neutralised.
Yeah voting in such a poll doesn't really work if you can't make a ranking. Now every vote has an equal value, while it should be a ranked voting.

Give us all 15 votes then we can give 5 votes to Pogi, 4 for our second, 3 for third, 2 fourth, 1 fifth

It was made on the assumption that voting on who should win would be virtually pointless: those who have a vote for the Vd'O itself give five (ranked) votes, so this is, as the text says, about identifying "which 5 riders would get your votes". The proposal of having 15 points to distribute between 5 riders is not supported by the software, but anyone is free to give their ordered list.
