Parkin nails a truth with this comment:

I 100% agree with that.

Are you saying Lance would have been better in "Blades of Glory" ? WTF kind of person talks about body transplant in any serious cycling history format? Contador and Armstrong have set cycling records that are difficult to reach for most of the pro bunch. The beat up is how much more amazing either guy could be on the bike with lots of bashing about their idiosyncrasies. Both guys can really be stupid but on the bike both are making some history. Parkin is writing about good racers, don't get confused. Make no bones they are both world class. If I had to crossforms I would take Alberto in the Ironman before I took Armstrong at 39.That venom is working

But that's the point. He still managed to use that body to win 7 tours. If Contador had Armstrong's body, but his own head, I doubt he would win anything. Contador is a great talent - that's why he has won things from an early age - but he's not as smart and calculated as Armstrong.

Hey all I'm gonna go ahead and make a "welcome back yet again BPC" call on this poster. I feel I can recognize his "style" (or lack thereof) after only two posts now. We shall see if I'm right or if this is just another fanboy fresh out of the clone vat.

Contador is so stupid I bet he cannot figure out how to change his IP address and sign up a new username every time he gets banned.

Mmmm. Fresh troll bait.

Making completely *** statements? Check.
Spinning everything on the internet in favor of Lance Armstrong? Check.
Displaying an extremely unhealthy man-crush for one celebrity? Check.
Returning to the same forum under a new username after being banned countless times? Priceless!

Contador is a natural talent. Armstrong's "talent" was manufactured by Dr. Ferrari. In a clean sport Contador would still win the Tour. Armstrong would never crack the top ten.

Parkin continues Versus' descent into the toilet. The channel is joke. They seem to be doing their level best to make their network worthless for those who will still be around after Armstrong is gone. I listened to very little of the Versus commentary last year. I get audio from web sources. I don't think I am ever going back.

Ligget and Sherwin have been really bad in the past, but they clearly jumped the shark in 2009. It is time for both to retire.

SBite you and Parkin should write a body swap book together. Add Ron Jeremy in with LA and AC and come up with a real racer.Swap body parts of the 3 until you come with something world class

What makes you think Contador's "talent" is any more natural than Armstrong's?

I think their early careers each clearly establishes their respective natural talents and I know of no reason to believe AC's success is due any less to manufacturing than is LA's (or anyone else's success in pro cycling for that matter).

Have I said something wrong? Anyone who agrees with any point Joe Parkin makes is trolling now? Can that be right?

You're obviously huge Contador fans and feel I'm saying he's dumb. I'm not saying that at all. I'm just agreeing with Parkin that Armstrong's head is a one off.

You make a good point.

It is certainly possible, in fact highly likely, that Armstrong and Contador were doping from a very early age. Of course Armstrong never "Learned" to climb or TT until he met Ferrari.

Heck, he could not even finish the Tour before he met Ferrari.

Far be it from me to defend Lance, but I have to do it in this instance. His talent was demonstrated from an early age, and he was first a triathlete, so it's not surprising that he would have some trouble finishing the TdF. However, he did win a WC quite early in his career, in his pre-Ferrari days. You can't really do that without some considerable talent.

You are correct, Triathlons are hard. I can never figure out if I am putting the Speedo on correctly until my junk is hanging out.

don't feed the troll...

It's alright. I did not know the forum rules. Won't make the mistake of saying something positive about Armstrong again.

Carry on with the thread...yeah this Joe Parkin is an A-hole who is probably on the payroll, etc.

Sorry if this has already been done but i tried skimming through some of the Armstrong topics already but couldn't find anything.

Versus journalist Joe Parkin has released his latest "In the Know" article the other day:

http://www.versus.com/nw/article/view/84907/?UserDef=true&catID=3365&tf=joe_parkin.tpl

The thing that got the most going about the article was this:

Since when did Conatdor snipe at Armstrong? The only things i've heard from him are:

'I respect Armstrong as a cyclist but that is it' and

'I had to buy my own wheels for the TT'

How could he as someone who is paid to bring the world and fans alike proper factual news stories write something so blatently wrong? So now the whole of America is reading garbage about Alberto Contador starting some huge war on words and Lance Armstrong being some sort of saviour with his new radioshack team. He doesn't even mention that Lance basically tried to take over Astana which already has a designated team leader ie. the best cyclist in the world: Contador - which is where i believe it all started as Contador wouldn't lay down and just let Lance try and relive the old days.

Sorry for the rant. Just had to get that off my chest. Im not usually this angry or vocal but something had to be said. Maybe this should have been put in the "Plea for journalistic integrity in 2010 topic" but it is here now.

Your views please.....

I guess it being an opinion piece is that this dude aint really gonna bother discussing all the facts about LA, and I doubt his employer really wants that either.

Kinda funny at the end of the article that he suggests AC should keep his mouth shut, open his eyes and pay attention, when AC has been rather quiet, rather attentitve and rather aware of the situation surrounding him.

Even I, an LA fan, can admit that the advice of "Shut your mouth. Open your eyes and pay attention" should really be directed at the 38 yr old guy from america.

Parkin has new book coming out hence the article. If he can get some of the LA readers on board it means he can pay of the debts he still has left over from Belgium and his failed businesses.

He guy is fairly stupid. Doesn't have a lot to offer the world and I'd never heard of him even thou I was in Europe around the same time as him.

look guys, why would you doubt anything Joe Parkin says ? He obviously has a knowledge of all things cycling that is far superior to ours and he researches in depth all the information he publishes to make sure it is accurate.

Joe Parkin - Despite his 5 grand tour victories, Contador has weaknesses in his armor.....

Contador's just a bloody bully. I don't know if anyone here knows the full facts about this but apparently Lance once had cancer. Anyone who bullys a cancer victim is bang out of order. It's just a shame that Lance is so shy when it comes to speaking to the press, we might never get to hear his side of the story.
