Just looked at the route...yeah I know a bit behind...That's a fantastic parcours for any stage race never mind in January....certainly better than the 4th GT.. (ToC..) Big MTFs in January that's superb

Not as good last year but easily trumps the TDU

Wines, olive oils, that sort of thing. The team is the CC Tavira, and the city and municipality were helping fund it, same as the CC Loulé-Louletano-Orbitur-Aquashow was in Loulé, or Milaneza-Maia was in Maia before MSS and LA Aluminios got involved. Of course, they had previously been Duja-Tavira, Palmeiras Resort-Tavira and Palmeiras Resort-Prio, so it's just been a bunch of reshuffling of sponsors.

That they have a new one and are no longer just CC Tavira is a good thing. Same with CC Gaia (Barbot), who are now Efapel-GlassDrive. Sadly, this might mean the end of the crazy bright kits.

The team is actually called Carmin-Prio-Tavira. Carmin are dedicated to making wine and olive oil. From what I've read they are not going to have a direct sponsorship on the team. The team will be responsable on selling some Carmin's products and 10% of the revenues will go into the budget.

This is part of a wider project called "Millenium Monsaraz". A Carmin brand designed to help through sales projects in Education, Health and Sports.

To use an adolescent phrase that I think is quite appropriate in this case: WHATEVER!!!

jesús hernández is a lower slopes domestique. He'd probably be able to get a contract without alberto, but it would be at a team like andalucía rather than at a pro team. Noval is an engine for the flats. He didn't have his best year in 2011, but he's still capable. No, he isn't bert grabsch or txente garcía, but domestiques like those are the exceptions, not the norm.

Also, those guys are not dead weight. Keeping your top level star happy is an important factor for making sure he doesn't go anywhere. Having his close friend and training partner in the team is good for his morale. Just because he isn't doing a sylwester szmyd job doesn't mean he can't be a mountain domestique; often a lot of his best work is done before the race is even on the air.

Hernández is a thoroughly reasonable pro mountain domestique. No, he isn't niemiec or szmyd, but having him around keeps contador happy, and besides he has navarro to do that job.
