I wanted Nibali to win this but the fact is he only has himself to blame for getting himself dropped on the descent. He put himself at the mercy of the tactical wheelsucking.

Nice one :D
Hats off to Nibali, showing again that he's a true bike rider always going for the win. I was rooting for some riders today, he was one of those, and I hope he becomes WC one day.
I also hope he's not too mad at Rui Costa for not working like he could/should.

So i see he is the best at hanging on cars

A mediocre inflated dude that can win stuff only if it's apocalypse outside.

Decent thing that he stayed out of podium today, would have been embarrassing to be disqualified.

Is this a thread only for praising Nibali and praying at his altar ? I guess every non believer is a troll.

Today showed that he is a cheat. Should be disqualified but it won't because race was organized by Italy.

The race was organized by UCI in Italy...

Nibali is such a great man, can't think of a reason not to like him.

Saying that he cheated and should have been DQ'ed is not trolling. It's a pretty reasonable thing to say.

Saying he's a mediocre rider is stupid so anyone who says that is either stupid or a troll. Simple as.

mediocre in report with the attention he gets

he won 2 2nd rate GT's in all his career but he is treated like Messiah of cycling of something like that. Every time he tried TdF he failed hard.

Also i find him boring and not spectacular. That add to "mediocre" label that i have for him. Each with his own ladder of values.

Added on that, cheating seems perfectly fine for him.

You must be a big fan of Wiggins, Valverde, Cav and Hushovd.

what rider is spectacular in your view? If not Nibali, then the only rider left is Vino, and he is retired atm. (will probably do a comeback and win the Vuelta in a couple of years though)

He's my 2013 World Champion, and I'm incredibly proud of the race he rode.
Nothing else to add.

He should've been disqualified after being paced back to the peloton, and pathetically made himself and Purito lose their chance for the rainbow jersey.

“I knew I had to take some risks in the finale. Vincenzo is very good on the descents, but he already crashed, so maybe he was nervous,” Rodriguez said. “I could see that he was not the same Nibali we typically see on the descents. I don't like to take advantage on the descents, but the race was unfolding like this, and with the wet roads, I could open a gap.”

Come to think of it Nibali kind of rode a dumb final. But yeah, he was so desperate to win in his home land..

Actually you could say Nibali was lost when he fell the first time, it broke his confidence for a good final downhill.

Yea true about the downhill part: ""After I crashed earlier, I was a bit scared. I could feel that my bike was slipping and I was scared of crashing again. I didn’t want to take any risks and so couldn't hold Rodriguez's wheel," Nibali revealed to Cyclingnews and Italian magazine Cycling Pro.

"I made a huge effort to get back on after crashing. My legs were hurting, I managed to get back because my form is good but I couldn't do any better than I did."

He was sucked into an impossible finale. He didn't attack first but followed Purito and then he lost him on the descent. With Costa and Valverde it was the end of the story either way.

What race could Nibali do to get just a few more points? Would be pretty cool to win it. Lombardia?

Lombardia of course, but from now on, wet descent may not be nibali's best friends:p
