Andy may not be a great example. A broken pelvis has ended a few promising careers and is not the same as waning abilities.

A hairline fracture from what I remember but there were other reasons for his lack of form as well. I don't think his problems were purely physical.

I dont think so...he is one of the best riders now for GC. Nibali did a good Tour last year, and he is doing a good Giro, always you cant win, except you are the best, and he is not...

Talent wise he is the 4th best by a long margin. He has beaten Froome & Contador. His Palmares is very rich w.r.t GTs. However his form is suspect since 2014 and with Slongo as his preparatore and too many objectives in his mind, thinking himself to be superman, underestimating his opposition, i think it will continue to be so

his average performances actually. Mortirolo wasn't extra special. Just a mountain that suited him more than any other.

Kruijswijk like's long, high gruelling climbs.

Anyone who wins three GTs and has multiple podiums is a very good rider. People like Merckx and Hinault are freaks so without him being freakish I have no problem with the word "champion".
