I also found that intriguing, as a race leader CF is siting at the back of the chasing group. I guess Evans is just doing his own stuff building form for Tour

Froome finished the climb and descent very far back, he had to burn himself just to reach that chasing group, so it's only natural that he had to sit at the back of it until near the end.

Froome was taking a breather. He admitted that he didn't have the legs on the day. Evans looked pretty good on that stage and probably helped Froome secure second place overall. I think Evans thought that the race could come back together and was talking to Froome at one point. A few more workers in that group and it probably would have.

We know that, but we are wondering why Evans is pulling to help CF, Evans is way down at that moment, he can simply sit at CF wheel and laughing at him. If he is not helping CF, it is quite possible CF can slip out of the podium. CF should thank Evans to help him secure the podium. LOL

So far we come up with two possible explanations, one is Evans is just doing his own training racing to get better form or hr is pulling for Thor hoping race will come together Thor can fight for the sprint finish but with Sagan present, I don't see that as a possibility.

Two things to consider regarding the giro:
1) nibbles time in the tt today was 5 seconds faster than last year (correct me if I'm wrong). His position looked improved also. But he's always been good in short itts. He needs to step up in longer ones to have a chance against Wiggins.

Well I'll agree that his position looks better, I don't think you can read too much into him being 5 seconds better, because someone was Roulston was 10 seconds quicker than last year and I don't think he's improved by 10 seconds since last year.

Still think BMC was just racing their own agenda, not caring about Froome.

Yeah, can't see why Evans would bother, apart from pride.

Only thing I can think of is WT points, 2 and 1 for 4th and 5th places in the stage.

With Sagan taking pulls to keep the break alive and Thor sitting in, it somewhat makes the possibility a bit more likely of Thor having a chance in a sprint against a slightly worn Sagan. As I and someone else said earlier Evans was riding for Thor.

One can't automatically concede victory to Sagan no matter the circumstances otherwise what's the point of holding the races at all?

we have different definition of coolness:D
Just for clarification....I said it was "not' in contention for coolest trophy.
Assuming he managed to get it home, I am sure he thinks it is the coolest ever.

I heard Sagan's surf board trophy broke in half taking it home.
