If he wins Liege I can live this year with only a podium in Giro.

I would actually be a little surprised if Nibali podiums the Giro this year, just with the strong level of competition: Tom D, Bernal, Roglic, S Yates, Lopez, and I am probably forgetting some other chances. But just to defeat three of those five would be impressive.

Of those Roglic, Bernal and Lopez have gone nucular in the spring, not quite healthy in perspective of a second half killer Giro. Dumo and Yates have taken a different approach so I think they will be Nibali's main opponents. Vincenzo building his form slowly until the big meeting always tends to underestimate his presumed impact when the real race starts. Whatever the opposition with the exception of Vuelta 2011 and the first part of Tour 2015 he always delivered since 2010, winning or getting on the podium of every grand tour he finished (Tour 2016 and Vuelta 2018 were training races). If he can hit a proper form and he is not on a declining spiral and having the best endurance of the field in this Giro, I don't see a reason why he can't fight for the win.

I am getting the feeling reading the articles that NIbali's preparation for the Giro is on track. Hoping we see the real Shark come next month as he has been missing for a while. Hopefully he shows positive signs in the Tour of the Alpes.

I hope Rollthedice is right as I like Nibs he is a great bike rider with all the skills and a courageous tactical style. I just hope he isn't starting the downwards drift of age just yet as the competition at this Giro is sumpreme and will expose any weaknesses.

I hope Nibali is planning to peak not too far into the race. If he wants to win the Giro, he cannot afford to lose time during the first or second week. A 2016 come back is a once in a life time thing, especially with this year opponents.

I'm really curious to see his shape at the ToA, even though I don't expect anything spectacular.
He will probably suffer a bit the sudden accelerations on the climbs, as he is coming back from a long training camp at altitude, with no racing in his legs since Milan - Sanremo.

The Shark won't be Sharp.

On the other hand, the field in rhe Tour of the Alps is seriously underwhelming, so he might even win it.

I have zero doubts his preparation is going well. I'm most concerned about his team, Bahrein has been abysmal this season.

Yeah...

Mohoric and Ivan Gracia been there in a lot of races with good performances.

Colbrelli won a stage in Oman but has done nothing since, and really been abysmal in the last month. Riders like Teuns and Dennis we have not seen much from either.

Not a lot of wins from this team... and I dont really know where they are gonna come from either really? Neither Bauhaus or Colbrelli are gonna win more than a couple of races. So Nibali? Hopefully he will have a great year. He should be motivated since he has a new contract to fight for with a new team it seems like.

They look like the press conference took place at five in the morning.
