I'd still like to see a proper duel between him and the Knight, but maybe we'll see it again.
Right now Nibbles is the best stage racer in the world bar none, and that's it.

Anyway back on topic Nibali is indeed looking good but to talk of Wchamps just yet is waay too premature what if he wins Vuelta in a demanding course, im almost sure if he is in a good pos after 1 wk he will keep trying. I no he wont just train for worlds
Did Bettini not get sacked as national coach?Parrulo said:I don't think Nibali will go for GC at the vuelta. Bettini said early in the season that Nibali agreed to follow his preparation plan for the worlds, and we all know no one knows how to peak for the worlds like Bettini!!!
The Bettini preparation plan is a bit weird as according to some involves going into an hunger knock on purpose on a couple of stages and giving it all on a couple others. Really weird stuff that doesn't involve GC in any way.
And imo Nibali will follow this plan religiously because a worlds win in his home country, on the year he won the three most important stage races in his country (assuming he wins the giro ofc) would turn him into a legend in Italy. Something a Vuelta win wouldn't.

Its a pity the TdF win this year will be discounted as the top rider has decided to sit it out.
Perhaps we will get a GT fight to seetle the deal once and for all in 2014.
brilleaben said:The Tour title is basically worthless without Nibali. With the countless attacks in this Giro he has proven that he indeed is not only the best, but most exciting rider to grace the peloton.
He doesn't use a boring Wiggins tactic, where the TT is the prime way to distance your rivals. Neither does he use a Sky like train to caress him all the way up those sissy Tour climbs, such as the Galibier.

I hope he'll do what Evans did in the Giro.Parrulo said:I don't think Nibali will go for GC at the vuelta. Bettini said early in the season that Nibali agreed to follow his preparation plan for the worlds, and we all know no one knows how to peak for the worlds like Bettini!!!

Afrank said:Yeah, saying he is the best stage racer in the world is overdoing the hype a little. But you have to admit Flo, the season he's had so far has been incredible, and he is showing himself to be a much improved stage racer this year. He's managed to beat almost every other stage racer at least once and taken the win in the biggest stage races in Italy.
He definitely deserves a little praise after the season he's had so far.
LaFlorecita said:Absolutely, there is no denying that. But come on, he is the best stage racer in the world because he beat Contador and Froome once? And we can just ignore the races in which he hot beaten by them? I mean, I could argue that Froome and Contador were in much better shape in Oman than in TA. It's my word against another, you know.
And because of this ****ed up logic, tdf suddenly has no meaning anymore? If Froome or Contador, or both, crush the tdf, it doesn't count because Nibali wasn't there? Why does it not work the other way round? Why can we not discount Nibali's win because Froome and Contador weren't in the race, then? Ah, I know why. because according to ****ed up logic, Nibali is the best stage racer in the world so he shouldn't have to prove himself against other riders.
**** logic, I guess

I always wondered why miss Froome blocked you but now I understand her fully.LaFlorecita said:and dawg and velasco beat him fair and square at the tour of oman. And velasco beat him fair and square at the tour de san luis.
This Nibali hype is ridiculous. I can't remember ever seeing this much hype about a single rider on here.
