He has beaten fair and square the Dawg and Velasco at Tirreno Adriatico, and at the Giro he has beaten fair and square almost everyone else remaining, except the Movistar duo Valverde and Quintana and TJVG (maybe VDB2 if you still consider him a GT threat, or the 2 French fries...pfft ).

I'd still like to see a proper duel between him and the Knight, but maybe we'll see it again.

Right now Nibbles is the best stage racer in the world bar none, and that's it.

In Oman Nibbles wasn't there form-wise, while in T-A they were both in top form.
At least on paper.

The Tour title is basically worthless without Nibali. With the countless attacks in this Giro he has proven that he indeed is not only the best, but most exciting rider to grace the peloton.
He doesn't use a boring Wiggins tactic, where the TT is the prime way to distance your rivals. Neither does he use a Sky like train to caress him all the way up those sissy Tour climbs, such as the Galibier.

I agree Parullo Costa has a chance i think it will be hard though for him if it is raced real fast on the climbs could he respond? in your opinion. Anyway back on topic Nibali is indeed looking good but to talk of Wchamps just yet is waay too premature what if he wins Vuelta in a demanding course, im almost sure if he is in a good pos after 1 wk he will keep trying. I no he wont just train for worlds

I don't think Nibali will go for GC at the vuelta. Bettini said early in the season that Nibali agreed to follow his preparation plan for the worlds, and we all know no one knows how to peak for the worlds like Bettini!!!

I mean off course Bettinis plan could still work and nibali can have faith in it. But I mean, maybe the new coach will have a different plan for nibali? Maybe the new coach just want Nibali to be domestique for the worlds. After all, the killer is back

Nibbles is certainly looking the goods at this Giro. Deserved winner [to be].
Although, while his improvement looks very impressive, I think the quality of his opponents is making him look somewhat better than what he actually is.
Or is this a good representation of what he can do when out of Basso's shadow?

Looking at his improvements I'd love to see him and Contador go head to head at next year's Giro. A rematch of 2011 would be great with the improved Nibali.

But you have to admit Flo, the season he's had so far has been incredible, and he is showing himself to be a much improved stage racer this year. He's managed to beat almost every other stage racer at least once and taken the win in the biggest stage races in Italy.

He definitely deserves a little praise after the season he's had so far.

I agree with you here. He's done great this season, but one season doesn't make someone the best stage racer in the world. That takes multiple seasons of domination in stage races. And while Nibali getting beaten in the early season was partly due to him not being in form yet, the results of those races shouldn't be completely ignored.

Agree 100% with your second paragraph. At the moment I would probably put Contador and Froome ahead of Nibali in terms of who is the best stage racer based on past performance. We need to at least see them all go head-to-head in a GT before declaring that one is definitely better then the other 2.

Little sidenote to put thing into perspective: IF Wiggo hadnt chickened out in the rain 'the great stage racer' Nibali would not have won this Giro. It is like Pantani/Ullrich 1998. One bad day that decided the outcome.
