Nibali was close to top shape in March. If you're looking for riders who didn't want or weren't able to peak until or during the Giro, mention Evans, Uran, Wiggins and Hesjedal, but definitely not Nibali.

Nibs did the Sky-approach of being at 95% fitness the whole season, and then hit 100% in the most important race.

Evans didn't get to correctly coordinate his training in the belief that he was to ride the tour, Wiggins form has not been what it was last year and again this could be with a mistaken eye on defending the maillot jaune later in the year. Hesjedal looked on course in April but sadly a respiratory tract infection ruined his chances.

All we can say about Nibali is that he has been exactly where he needed to be and that has resulted in the superb performances we have seen from him this year.

Nibali is NO top 20 climber! He's a top climber!

Was nice of him to attack when I asked him too as well. :)
Congrats Lo Squalo, deserved win!

Not really. Porte was a 10th rate climber back then. Wiggins maybe 3rd and he was only rolling round in prep for the tour. It was a great performance but not as good as 2013 and certainly not as good as froome 2012.

Porte was a bit better than tenth rate, and Wiggins had already finished ahead of Nibali in the 09 Tour. Nibali still hasn't beaten anyone like 2010 Basso, or 2009 Schlecks and Bertie in a Grand Tour. Had Bertie and the brothers been at last year's tour and peaking, Froome and Nibali would have fought for the last podium spot and maybe both missed it. IMIO, Froome has a better time trial, but is about equal to Frank as a climber. Nibali has improved, but everyone else has gotten a lot weaker (except Purito last year).

Awesome. I truly hope Lo Squalo is truly the man he seems to be. Amazing performance this Giro. He literally has done almost everything perfectly this Giro. Also kudos to Kangert. What a beast. Hopefully he can become a regular part of Nibali's domestique group. And Aru was fantastic today. Clearly the future of Italian cycling when it comes to GTs

Lol Frank? Lol, okay.

Supremo Vincenzo!!!!!! Grazie Lo Sqaulo for such a grand show :)

Only the Strongest will wear the Pink and you have show all never to underestimate you again.

Meanwhile Aru and Kangert deserve major kudos for their performances in delivering him!

And I just loved him kissing his wedding ring to celebrate; lucky lady his wife!
