If Purito had the same luck as Nibali, Hesjedal would have crashed in the 2012 Giro, Contador would have crashed in the 2012 Vuelta (no fuente de), Aru would have crashed out in last year's Vuelta and Froome and Quintana would both have crashed out in the 2013 Tour. Purito would be a 4 time GT winner too
Why bother being better than your rivals when you can just rely on them crashing out

This is his best win. By far. 2013 and 2014 were superhuman, but this showed guts. Even w/o Kruijswijk crashing, he still had 1:40 to catch up on Chaves.

This is parody yes? surely no such opinion can be true, besides it was Chaves that inherited the MR, Nibali still had to work for it.

There's some truth to that. It's silly to deny Nibali's good fortune, or that a perennial runner-up figure like Purito would have won GTs had he been as lucky

Scarponi, which I think is still his roommate in a GT and who did a fantastic work said when Nibs was down that "Vincenzo è un duro e può ribaltare la situazione". That gave me hope.
