Vincenzo Nibali consultant of Q36.5
There Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team is a Swiss team with a Professional license born in 2023. It will therefore not take part in all the most important competitions on the international cycling scene, as teams with a World Tour license can do. But it will be able to take advantage of invitations to participate in some races such as for example Giro d’Italia and Tirreno-Adriatico or classics on Italian soil Strade Bianche, Milan-Sanremo. Vincenzo Nibali has linked his name to the newborn team as technical consultant, in the featured image Nibali was present at the presentation in Zurich a few weeks ago.

Back to racing in Mtb
More recent however the news that Vincenzo Nibali will return to compete on two wheels but not on the road, but on the dirt road in Mountain Bike. Revealing his schedule, Nibali let it be known that he will race at theAndalusia Bike Race (February 27-March 4) and to follow in South Africa in the Cape Epic (March 19-26). The second is the most important appointment, the Spanish one seems to serve as preparation.

Also on the Scott page:

I still get anxiety by how early he celebrates.
I think part of the beauty of win Sanremo is the crossing line with you arms wide, with the bunch closing down behind you, you have to win with the ultimate roll-of-the-dice and that early celebration is the last little element of risk to crown it all.

It's a very aesthetic finale, and such a celebration makes all the photos look better.

But I know what you mean , at the time I almost had a heart failure when he start celebrating and the finish line doesn't come into frame for a very long time

Win Sanremo or win 'celebrate too early' thread.

Win/win situation

What if?...

What if Nibali is racing MTB with a small thought in the back of his mind (or perhaps not so small)... XC race at Paris 2024

That's how I see it...
The boy goes back to MTB because he's always loved it, since he was a young kid, and even during his pro career was enjoying days of off road riding during the off season.
It all starts just to fill his "boring" post - retirement days, but the boy loves it, enjoys his riding way too much and he is Lo Squalo afterall... thirst for blood never goes away.
Perhaps someone, a friend, a fellow rider, his agent... suggests him to take it a bit more seriously and see how it goes. No pressure. Just for fun... he keeps repeating himself, but deep inside, deep in his heart he knows the truth is different. His legs are still good, Paris almost one and a half year away... and that elusive Olympic medal... and even though with the likes of Pidcock, MVP, etc. he doesn't stand a chance, dreaming is more than enough as motivation, even for someone with three GT trophies on his shelf.

Just saying...

Tbf he was in the Giro last year and it wasn't exactly fireworks. But I do miss him as well. At least I would have been happy with these slow pacers, cuz he would have been able to follow <3
His attacking attitude was vastly overrated in the final part of his career but at least he went for nonsense descent attacks to spice things up a bit. Like on Mortirolo last year or the stage when Moscon crashed the year before. He should've told Caruso how to do it.

He did attack quite a lot in 2021 iirc (or rather he went in quite a few breaks) but he simply wasn't able to do any damage. Last year was different though and I was quite surprised how passive he was. I guess he just decided his goal was to finish as highly as possible and with that goal in mind his tactics were correct. Still a bit disappointing he didn't pull a Contador in his final home GT.

They aged differently, Contador was basically a fresh 20 minute W/kg specialist which was perfect for attacking first exploding later. Nibali just sort of didn't really retain any big upside
