Nibali cruised across the line after beating everyone to the top. He did not look stressed at all.

Training ride.

Relax people, he got that motivational letter remember? Those letters by Vino are really good. They make you wanna go out there and really get ready for the Tour and stuff.

Would have been top 10 on the MTT in 2001. Not even 15% behind Lance. Even with a tailwind this performance doesnt seem normal.

as I predicted, numbers not thru the roof: 50 minutes, 5,84w/kg according to vetooo.

why? well, this includes coasting a bit with majka and konig and savouring the victory inside the last 500m tho, so nibali surely had more in him than he showed.

#TDF, Stage 13. Chamrousse (18.10 km, 7.36 %, 1333 m) | prov. Vincenzo Nibali: 50:03, 21.70 Kph, VAM 1598 m/h, 5.84 W/kg [DrF]

lets just say I prefer to think that he is smart enough to pass the IQ test and not go full on :D

Obviously he isn't going to go full on, there are plenty more mountain stages left. Makes much more sense for him to take it easy today.

Because they don't have the Ferrari connection?

Edit: obviously, I'm trolling, but only a little. A weak field doesn't legitimize Nibali's performances

I haven't seen the Ferrari powered motor home on the side of the road, but maybe he parked in an anonymous shopping center parking lot.

In any case, Vino is the symbol (and future) of clean cycling, so no worries.

True though that the main contenders are out, so hard to judge relatively.

Go Pinot!!!

Every degrees above 25 reduces the performance on average with 1%. So let's say the average temperature today was 31 degrees that would translate in 6,2 W/kg

I can ride with 7w/kg for about 1 second. 50 minutes is a long time, quite a lot longer than say 15 minutes or 20 or even 30 minutes.

Come on! He's "prepared" to compete on Clentador/Vroom level. Now he has to artificially slow down (tip for the new powermeter feature - power limit, flashes and applies brakes if crossed) not to look too ridiculous (happily spent some time bit behind Konig/Majka).

Maybe Nibs even did not want to leave them behind, it "just happened" riding the tempo and forgetting to look back (then it would look silly to wait for them).

Looking forward to see more of this in the next stages - maybe they should give him some antiPED during the rest day (one blood bag donated by Eddy Mercx would do it, though one never knows what he's on...).

Not his fault, but what a snoozefest...

Well, I thought the stage was spectacular. Everyone was fighting each other... besides king Nib ofc. Still, no complaints about the quality of the spectacle this year... it's almost like an 80ies TdF

A full ten seconds on Konig? Must be a big doopie.

But, lets not underestimate race tactics here, Nibali is a master tactician, eating the plate of Valverde/Pinot, and when they were finished he ate Konig and Machckckia, or whatever his name is.

Anyways, he is lightyears better than the rest of the Tour de Bore field.
