Vinokourov determined to sign off in yellow

28.01.2011 - Kazakh veteran cyclist Alexandre Vinokourov, seen here during the official presentation of Astana cycling team in Monaco, announced on Friday that 2011 will be his last season as a professional rider, but he is determined to wear the yellow jersey again at some stage in the summer.

(will they let him?)

All choked-up at the thought of Vino's swan song. But what a great comeback season he just had in 2010. I frankly don't care how he did it or how much Spanish steak went into his guns - it was awesome. L-B-L, Trentino, that amazing Tour stage...

just so I understand you correctly:

you get busted for dope
you blast all other riders about doping
now you say you don't care how he did it?

am I the only one seeing the irony of this?

this site is amazing...............

But... he's not Lance Armstrong. He's European!! It's like when Eddy Merckx used the the best of the performance enhancers for the time, it wasn't bad! He wasn't really doping!!!
Do you understand now boy?!?

i think that was an attack on Joe, not Vino... either way, rude. especially as it is the wrong forum to discuss this any further... please desist.

this is a thread about the god that is Vino, a law unto himself.

you are correct........Joe Papp is a hypocrite
I'm just pointing out that fact

I do like Vino though.......then again all the top riders are dopers but at least I understand it and deal with it, not crying on the boards about how they cheat when Joe Papp was a cheater just not smart enough to NOT get caught

The troll is in da house!!!!

Vino eats trolls for breakfast and then ****s them out 60km into the ride, once he gets his bowels moving - or so A.C. told me...before he had steak for lunch. :p

we plan on savouring every ounce that Vino gives us :p

As a cycling fan, Vino is the most exciting rider in the peloton to me. And I think the UCI would find more support for, and a better response to, its ban-the-radio campaign if they explained that the intent was to create more situations where other riders raced like Vino races (w/ or w/o a radio!). Love him or hate him, he's an animator.

But Vino was caught and punished. Many of us have some respect for those who have been caught, punished and made skape goats while their jailers proclaim clean cycling and praise codopers.

With Joe who has been through that himself, it might be even camaraderie.

Completely agree. Evans, Contador, Schleck are all pussies compared to Vino. AC had no reason to apologize to Schleck for his attack. Evans is a tearful Sally Fields (you like me, you really like me) . And Schleck's a little whiner.

Vino should lend each of these guys a ball so they'll at least have one.

My favorite thing about Vino is his ability to recover on mountain stages. How many times have he thought that he's popped and holy ****, here he comes back up the road, jaw clenched, absolutely grinding up that climb? I'll miss him when he's gone.

Has Vino ever raced in the States? Can't think of when...
I don't remember that too.

But i think Tour of Cali is in his program this year, cause he doesn't want to get in the way of Kreuziger in Giro and has to train somewhere, right?

Interestingly Vino himself is against radio ban.

He admits it directly benefits a few riders such like him, Evans and Gilbert, but ultimately it's not worth it.
