Ugh! This sort of behaviour, in any sport just ****es me off!
Really makes you wish you'd been there, eh? Enough of us could probably out-cheer those booers!

I was at the Tour start in London a few years back and as a laugh (and to get the atmosphere going) we all had the old fog horns when the riders came through. Some German lady objected to the wall of noise being created to which I told her "its what happens at a bike race, if you dont like it dont go to a bike race".

My photo of Vino today, about 3km from the finish. Some of the stewards booed him, don't think there were many proper cycling fans around.

Warmed to him more this year than I have in the past.

If they knew who vino is then they knew more about cycling than 90% of ppl there.

HELP me defend Vino!

I know that this thread has the most enthusiastic group of English-speaking Vino supporters on the planet, and so I want to ask for your help. I contribute to wikipedia to indulge my love of writing, and in the past week I understandably invested a lot of time into building out the Vino article.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Vinokourov

All was fine until some jag-off showed up there (probably from around here) and started undoing many of my edits based on the totally dubious and subjective claim (on his part) that he didn't like my style of writing! Argh! There's so much work still to do on the article (as far as adding in information) and some dooshinator is actually "undoing" work that I've done and stripping down the article, rather than adding to it!

So my request is that you all become editors/contributors at wikipedia if you're not already, and help me (however it has to be done) to protect the contributions I've made there in an appropriate style of writing and fight-off the hater.

I'm not sure how to do it other than to "undo" his "undoing" of my edits, but I'm sure together we can all figure it out.

And this isn't something that will take much time on your part. Where your help will be valuable is in the talk/discussion that is in the background of the article - there's a separate "talk" page where such changes can be discussed and if I can muster a committed group that shifts the consensus in favor of the style of writing I used to build-out Vino's page, then one single editor can't justly undo my work.

Thanks...

If you want to write a glowing, journalistic assessment of Vinokourov, giving full rein to your range of prose and praise, then send it to bleacherreport.com or something similar. Wikipedia will defend its intended status as an non-POV encyclopaedic source, and a local consensus on one page will not be allowed to change that.

I'm not the guy who you have disputed with there, but I would have made similar reversions, and would defend him. Different forums for different writing.

I didn't write a glowing, journalistic assessment of Vinokourov and I would ask if you've even read the revisions?

I hope he says FU to the UCI and wears an Olympic jersey.

Him wearing the one in the picture in San Sebastian(and winning:p) would be the ultimate final troll by Vino to the UCI, let them have the guts to fine him for that little 'mistake'. :D

What are the rules on that? Samu also had a special jersey after all.
