Majka, CASorensen, and Navarro all lost 51". Pires only Saxo to come in with the front group. So much for Dani's GC hopes.

edit-
Brajkovic lost 51 secs too.

So was it Cataldo who forced the selection on the climb? It didn't look like Pauwels and the rest finished too far back.

NicoRoche came in w/ Valverde, ASchleck, Vanendert group.

JaviMoreno at 17.03?! Must've had some kind of problem.

Maybe just wants to go in break tomorrow and lost time on purpose so he'd be allowed to go. Not likely he'd win from a selective group anyway.

Basso finished over 3 minutes down but Szmyd was in the front group.

Tejay finished just off the back of Valverde's group, at 2.17 down

Descending could be a problem for Sky in July. None of Wiggins, Froome, Porte and Uran can descend well.

uran is a good descender. he also lead the descend. very stupid tactic again by sky. as urans sprint was wasted because of that

Was he with the leaders on the climb?

Pretty poor performance by RSNT as a whole, BTW. Only Fuglsang in the front group.

Yes, it was.

I don't think Machado was with the leaders over the top. Hell, I don't think Fuglsang was either.

Very impressive then from Cataldo.

For those who followed the Greenedge thread on this forum through November and December you will remember the MANY forum contributors who absolutely caned the GE team and their selection of "all sprinters" and no-one who could climb more than a tiny hill. Shocking, weakest in the WT, who picked this rubbish, etc were many of the claims.

As one of the few sticking up for the new Aussie team I am just sitting back smiling. Surely they must be moved from Shocking to Poor now on some of the experts rankings :)
GE supporters like myself will not be getting ahead of ourselves of course as this trend can't continue all year but it is nice to pick up the wins and we look forward to a few more hopefully...maybe Albasini can go on and win this race to add to Gerrans MSR victory.

One of the beauties of this team and I notice it a lot while you are all discussing the big names is that a lot more riders are given license at GE to go for a win rather than 95% of a team roster looking after 2 or 3 gun riders.

I agree, but there are only two riders able to win for GE all season.

Gerrrans/Alabasin/Goss and Meyer/Durbridge/Bobridge for Top 10's in TT.

In my opinion if those three went in breaks as they shown expect Goss they could win. Any other GE rider would not imho.

disapointing :( I saw him drop in downhil I think.

ya i think he was, i know he is a bad descender but i wasn't expecting to see him getting dropped there today . . . his form can't be the best either as he got the flu after algarve and didn't train properly for about a week due to fever and stuff like that ( he posted it on his site which he updates daily)

Van Hummel only at 3 minutes with a whole peloton still much much further

So he really did improve on his climbing

Rubbish. It's amazing the lengths you go to in order to make excuses for Colombian riders. From the helicopter shots it looked like at most he led the descent for a few corners. Meanwhile Cataldo led the bunch up the climb and down most of the descent and still managed to finish second in the sprint ahead of Uran!

Uran isn't a good descender btw. Not terrible, but not good either.

Don't know how he is overall. but he was terrible in the tour last year. He was constantly gapped on descents by the other white jersey contenders.

Your list there suggests more than two riders and there are a few more that I think are possibilities, even moreso in a break. Certainly Langeveld and Clarke are racing in very good form, as well as Allan Davis in this race (Catalunya). The powerhouses like O'Grady and Tuft if not pulling for the team would be able to win in a breakaway and then there are sprinters like Howard, Docker and Dean...plus don't forget McEwan in his last few races.

Kroupis and Cooke have already had second places as well behind quality opposition. Nearly forgot another young gun who will ride at the Olympics, Hepburn.

You're right actually, Froome did descend pretty well at the Vuelta. He has a pretty bad reputation in terms of bike handling though. That first corner crash at the world's time trial championships was particularly embarrassing.

 He didnt race the Worlds TT
