The jury can choose how they want to handle this. The rule is (luckily) open to interpretation. If they feel he crashed due to bad road and not his own doing, then that's that.
Exactly right, rules are open to interpretation, with most of capable climbers within @11-15 seconds of one another, race officials are not going to relegate one of the race's most popular riders, why create a controversy were it's not necessary. And within the race management, they decided to modify the race for high wind conditions... and the race isn't over yet. I didn't see race officials mentioning Twitter troubles as reason for their rulings.

dont't worry, race organizer has hire 100 elderly citizens to come out with brooms. Every speck of dust, every dog hair and cigarette butt have been swept away in honour of Remco.
Remco said he took his hands off the hoods, was in the momentary translation of moving his hands to the handlebar drops, hit a small seam in the pavement and crashed himself..

Yesterday I saw pictures of the pavement that Remco described as a pothole that he didn't see, looked like decent surface and was painted to direct traffic.. Couldn't see anything crazy from photos I saw...?

There was no pothole in the picture posted online, so I reckon Remco messed up.

It seems it's not even windy - so some of the route changes were not necessary.

I'm not against the extreme weather protocol and all that, but too many stage races are influenced by minor factors.

And seeing the stupid roundabout today, it's a bit absurd with all their weather-related measures.

I didn't see it, if the height of road painting was enough to crash him..oh well..
He probably should have checked for a hole in the road before saying it caused him to beef it.
Pothole sounds better than.. I spaced out.
If you watch him explain.. I was getting ready for the sprint.. At the head of the traffic circle? Nah..
at least other guys can say that a kangaroo attacked them, have crazy animal video to back it up..

For all this Remco discussion and the crash rule....neither ruling is going make a difference in the top three for final GC.

According to Bak, the peloton was heart-shaped* just before.
I mean... errr... I suppose...

*Not the anatomical correct kind.

No massive hole, but there was a clear indentation. Of course nothing that should pose problems. But he didn't see it and was about to change grip, so he simply lost grip of his bars. It looks like he may just be standing up, so he pushed his weight forward just as he lost grip of his bars. I could imagine myself *** up like that, very relatable levels of clumsiness.

It should not be open to interpretation, because that just means juries do whatever the *** they want, which is more unfair than not having any rules at all.

Like Evenepoel already claimed a p(l)othole, which was people already checked and disproved. You can just always blame something if you go down.
