Not a bad day in the office for Pinot :) .

Surprised by Contador  . Martin did really great.

People are reading too much out of these early performances. Contador is probably taking a different approach and I don't blame him. As for Uran the three times that he has been good at the Giro he has performed poorly previously in those years. So I was hoping for this as well.

Why would he take a different approach from the spring peak in march and then super peak at the Tour?

He's usually a lot better than this in his first race. Doesn't think he'll do a "super peak" for the Tour like Armstrong/Nibali.

Because he is older and he understand it. :)

Im thinking the same, he has always been incredible good early on in the spring when he goes to the Tour. Why change that? Especially in 2014 in mind...

I think its a matter of 1) Contador not being super good at the moment and 2) he has spend too much energy early on. Im pretty sure he will top-5 on Malhao, but either way, not what Contador-fans have been hoping for.

I was wrong about G's form...he is looking very good again

However SKY illness list goes on as Lopez crashed

He is exactly the same as last year. Average at TDU and then good in Algarve. The lack of Lopez and Kwiatkowski could make things very difficult for him if he takes the lead tomorrow.

I don't trust the time gaps shown on the standings. We had the same thing yesterday and then it was corrected later.

Some of the Contador fans here are more entertaining than they intend to be. From weeks of babbling about AC's inevitable crushing of all before him, to immediate doom and gloom because he lost twenty seconds in a race that is both meaningless to a rider with his palmares and also his first of the season. Does supporting the man cause bipolar disorder?

Really I have no idea what you're talking about.
There are 3 types of fans:
Miburo type "OMG he'll crush everyone" "Lol he's so bad he'll be even worse than in 2013 :D "
Normal fan "Let's see what he can do" "Hmm not so good after all"
Me type "Really not sure what to expect but he looks good but I really don't know but maybe he will be great but he could be bad as well" "Oh he's really bad that is so disappointing :( , he's always strong in his first race so this is a really bad sign :( "

Edit: oh and there's a 4th type, the arvc4 type - "he'll be great" "he lost loads of time but he'll still be great and everyone who thinks otherwise is thick".

Those should be minor if the timing is correct

Pinot s.t as Machado

Saez and Benoot @ 13 seconds

Aru to Martin @ 15 seconds

Rest of the top 20 as per PCS

Just like in 2013 and 2015, just a different approach and he'll be great at the Tour anyway? :)

I think AC was cooked because he stayed too much in wind...
We can speculate as much as we want but there is only 1 fact: he was 20th and lost time to virtually all GC favorites and also to several riders he should always beat uphill :)

Defo thick if you judge a season on 1 Stage in February.

I've followed him for long enough to know what I can expect based on a result. In 2013 and 2015 I kept on believing until the very end that he would come into form when it mattered yet it didn't happen.

Flo, at least give him enough credit to keep having hope for more than 2 stages will ya :D . This result is too crappy to just be explained by bad form, which is a good thing in itself, if I make sense

I'll wait to see what he can do tomorrow in the ITT. Don't have high hopes.
Hopefully Luisle or Tony can beat Thomas overall!
Agree the result almost seems too bad to be real.
