Nice win for Higuita after Foia.

Evenepoel once again giving little to overreact to.

Evenepoel with no finish at all it seemed, but still applying for another statue crossing the line.
He just rode his tempo and the others had something left. He has quite a change of pace on shallower gradients where he just saves more surfing the wheels.

You can ignore the gap, but it's not like he could've won but didn't bother.

Yes, though he probably could have finished with a closer deficit, maybe only losing a second or two.

Pidcock ended up DNFing after being in the breakaway for most of the day. Hope that it isn't anything serious as the cobbles season could well be very disappointing if both him and Van der Poel are not at their best.

Does it really matter when he leads the race by a minute going into the last kilometer? 2 or 9 seconds doesn't change anything.

We'll soon find out, but always worth remembering on the Malhao stage that the buses are parked at the bottom.

Main person who should be a little disappointed by today is Gaudu who I expected to be going toe to toe with Higuita for the win if it came down to a small group sprint as it did.

Expected a bit more from Foss as well. He's usually still being seen as a youngster due to his late debut at the pros, but he turns 25 in two months. For somebody who has the ambition to one day win the TDF, he's going to have to step it up.

Evenepoel lost 4 seconds two years ago on Malhao, to Lopez. Today he lost 9 seconds, the difference being he went full out until the finishline back then, unlike today. He was also paced by Almeida back then and didn't have to lead the bunch like he did today.

Anyone know what happened with Pidcock?
