Good effort and a pat on the back for Lopez whose mechanical mishap cost Schachmann the time he needed to snatch the win.
Schachmann has nobody but himself to blame. He had the chance to jump earlier but chose not to.

Dominant performance by Evenepoel.

Remco suprised them. MAL having a technical slowed them down and created a gap but they should know better by now. He wasn´t going to wait for the sprint.
Yes, he did attack from the pack, which...you kind of have to expect. Hard to imagine anyone was surprised that someone attacked from that pack.

They all saw him go by and no one responded until Schachmann went after him. I would assume that's because they were on the rivet and couldn't rather than because they were surprised.

Remco looks fantastic now. Will win overall 100%.

Greg held on really long that climb. Impressive form already.
Vdp held on until 4km which is also pretty long

They were all a bit surspried. They have to get used to Evenepoel attacking with a long sprint. Schachmann ist really really strong again but he slept a bit. Well, it is his first race of the year. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins Strade Bianchi. Tomorrow will he hard for Evenepoel and Schachmann.

What a final k for a guy 'without a kick'. At least he had the raw power to keep his kind of kick going. Impressive win, again.

Guesses for the TT margin?
Not on Dennis obviously, but on the rest of the GC men? I think he'll take a minute on everybody bar Dennis / other pure TT specialists

I am not sure. Schachmann won the only time trial he finished last year. One minutes seems to much for 20km. I think 30 seconds is more realistic.

He gained more than 2 seconds per km on Ganna at San Juan. I'd venture everyone bar Dennis will lose more than that. Obviously the route is different and slightly less favourable for Remco but still... I think 45 sec or more on everyone bar Dennis. And maybe 20-30 sec on Dennis as well as he is far from top form.

Love that we're talking about a 20-year-old in terms of "how much he'll win by" rather than if he'll win. Amazing. Early season but still a strong field.

The one TT that Schachmann won at 39kph. He finished 18th 1.13 back on the same ITT course in 2018.
I’m sure he’s improved, but he could still lose a minute on Sunday

Curious why you think this route is slightly less favorable? Lacking a significant climb? I kind of think an up and down course like this is right in his wheelhouse.

Actually I kind of think either are right in his wheelhouse.

In my defense i would like to say, that Kämna lost 15 seconds after the attack in the final kilometer. It's just that Remco has been cheating by letting me believe he couldn't do what he did.

Wanna bet he ain't wearing that one.
Still possible, if Schachmann can put a few seconds between them the day after tomorrow.

More twisting and turning and accelerating... though after today i'm not sure that's a disadvantage.

Not sure why anyone was surprised after watching Joao Almeida pull on the front to set it up. Had to expect something and it was definitely going to be before the last 75 meters...
