Quite why the UCI feel that punishing riders who went the correct way along the course are OK shows just how protective of their collective arses they are. If I was Ganna, I would be taking it further. The UCI stewards are supposed to check the course, and they clearly did not bother. When I was running a Europe-wide motorcycle racing championship, I had the UEM marshalls attempt to cover their own error by pulling a similar stunt!

Too early in the year for real fireworks, so I'd expect a 100m sprint between the two former teammates.
This is another traditional bunch sprint climb like the one in UAE yesterday. This would suit Roglic more than Vingegaard, so normally he should win.

Got some suit explaining the decision, give Ganna his win back you fool! Selfie Lappartient been on the phone trying to scrub the stage from existence, going to inform the IOC now, send them tapes of the finish saying look at this lads is this really the man you want, racing parallel to a warzone next week too so lets hope they don't end up deviating after the finish there.

Edit: nvm that's Candido Barbosa, Volta legend!! Looking a bit older now though.

The profile posted on page 1 of this thread (from the roadbook) is more like 8 km at 7% average, a lot steeper then PCS's profile.

Did you also read the text I put above it?

The Climbfinder profile seems to be the closest to reality.

One presumes, unless the riders are complete numpties, they'd have used their common sense & braked/stopped just like every other time riders have gone the wrong way.

They only treated this like some rally sprint stage because there was space to do it.
Yeah, that could be true. But I’ve never seen the entire peloton go down the road winding up for the sprint with 700 meters to go.

Mountain suits the good uphill punch of Tao Geoghegan Hart but obviously it just depends on whether he's having an on or an off year this time round.

Let´s see, what will happen on Pomba. Visma will surely drill also that climb. But Vingegaard needs at least still someone from his team to bring him to km 3 before the finish..

Tulett needs to find the wheel of Vingegaard so he is ready to launch him. Van Aert will take the lead on the descent before Pomba.

Bank look second hand apart from Vingegaard, he's been allegedly training on his own in the wilderness for 6 months like Rocky 3 so better do something today.
