It's obviously #2, but the sheep are gonna be crying about #1.
If someone had been crossing the road in the first 100 or even 200 metres after the deviation, it would have been a disaster even if everyone had realised immediately. It is very much #1 in this case.

It is absolutely fair to talk about the lack of functioning brain cells among certain riders too, though.

How does anyone take the right road if there's no signaling.

Usually when we see riders being led the wrong way in the final, it means they won't get to contest the finish, but here we actually have video evidence of riders coming to "the line" long before the winning rider.

Well, if UCI is to follow their own rulebook they should sanction Jarrad Drizners for this. It's the riders responsibility to know the route (according to the rulebook) and they were all told which way to take the roundabout in the briefing. It's also clearly lined out in the roadbook. But all common sense points to UCI and the race organizers. Disgrace.
